Man Utd receive Alejandro Garnacho transfer boost as exit route reopens with £45m bid

By staff9 July 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

Alejandro Garnacho was the subject of a bid from Napoli during the January transfer window and the Italian champions are back in for the Manchester United star after his fallout with Ruben Amorim

Alejandro Garnacho could be handed an escape from Manchester United by Napoli – who want to land him on the cheap. The Serie A side failed with a £60million bid for Garnacho in January, but are back in for the winger and are hoping to finally get him for £45m.

United are desperate to get rid of Garnacho in the wake of his bust-up with Old Trafford boss Ruben Amorim. The 20-year-old is one of five United players told by Amorim to stay away from pre-season training after they requested to leave.

Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia will train away from the main United squad until their futures are resolved. United value Garnacho at £60m, but know they will not get that fee, given his public falling-out with Amorim and the club’s desire to offload him.

It is understood United remain in negotiations with Napoli, in the hope of striking a deal with the Italian champions over Garnacho. Napoli want Garnacho to link up with former Manchester City superstar Kevin De Bruyne, who joined them on a free transfer earlier this summer, and former United midfielder Scott McTominay, voted Serie A Player of the Season last term.

And Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis reckons Garnacho will become an even better player once he leaves United. “Garnacho’s got pace, flair and potential,” said the Napoli chief.

“But that’s not even why we want him. We want him because he’s at United. Get him out and he becomes twice the player. There’s a fault at United that I can’t explain”

Garnacho fell out with Amorim after being left out of United’s starting line-up for the Europa League final defeat against Tottenham in Bilbao. The Argentina star publicly questioned Amorim’s decision in the wake of United’s 1-0 defeat and said he would assess his future over the summer.

Should Manchester United sell Alejandro Garnacho to Napoli for £45million? Have your say in the comments section.

“Obviously it’s hard for everyone,” a clearly disgruntled Garnacho told reporters. “Our season was s***. We didn’t beat anyone in the league. We lacked a lot of things. When you don’t score goals, you always need more.

“Until we reached the final, I played every round. And I played 20 minutes today – I don’t know. I’m going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens next.”
