Man Utd seal TWO transfer exits and potential £59.5m windfall – but it’s a major loss

By staff1 September 2025No Comments2 Mins Read

Manchester United have been busy right up to deadline day and the Red Devils have now confirmed two major exits from Ruben Amorim’s squad after striking lucrative deals

Manchester United have continued a busy transfer deadline day by confirming the exits of both Antony and Rasmus Hojlund.

The Brazilian winger has returned to Real Betis following his successful loan spell. The Spanish side have spent around £21m to re-sign him permanently. Danish striker Hojlund has moved to Napoli on a season-long loan with an obligation to buy for £38m written into the deal. That will only be activated should the reigning Serie A champions qualify for the Champions League next season.

Combined, the two players cost United almost £158m when signing from Ajax and Atalanta respectively – meaning United have LOST almost £100m on the pair.

Hojlund netted 16 goals across his debut campaign at Old Trafford but found his second season more difficult with just four Premier League goals to his name. It was thought that he was content staying at the club to fight for his place but has performed a u-turn with his return to Italy.

Meanwhile, Antony has endured a disastrous time of things as a Red Devil. He was signed for an eye-watering £81m in 2022. But he has scored just 12 goals in all competitions since then.

Antony managed to revive his career with Betis last term having found the net on nine occasions in all competitions. And the Spanish side were keen to see him return all summer.

The pair’s exits are the latest farewells that United have completed across what has been a brutal window. Academy graduate Marcus Rashford has been sent to Barcelona on loan, while Alejandro Garnacho was sold to Chelsea for around £40m.
