Ruben Amorim is eager to bring in some new additions for his struggling Manchester United squad, while there are also a number of outgoing deals that could be confirmed at Old Trafford
Manchester United are still looking to make some moves in the January transfer window as Ruben Amorim attempts to bolster his struggling team and get them out of mid-table.
United have had a tough start under the former Sporting Lisbon boss since he replaced Erik ten Hag in October, winning just five of his first 13 games in charge, and it has been widely reported he is looking for a new left-back and striker in particular this month.
There are also a number of outgoings that could happen this month, with Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Casemiro all linked with the exit door after struggling for game time under the Portuguese boss.
Mirror Football has rounded up some of the biggest transfer news surrounding Manchester United in the last 24 hours.
Garnacho open to Napoli move
There’s no doubt Garnacho is one of the brightest talents to emerge at Old Trafford in recent years but he’s not having the best of periods under Amorim, who has used him sparingly in recent weeks.
Garnacho has been strongly linked with a move to Napoli, who look set to lose key winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to PSG this month.
Napoli boss Antonio Conte would need a suitable replacement for Kvaratskhelia and appears to have identified Garnacho as the man to come in.
According to the Independent, Garnacho is keen to make the move to Serie A and United are open to the sale because he represents pure profit after coming through their academy – keeping them on the right side of PSR rules.
Talks have opened with a fee being touted around the £40million mark. However, United are said to have demanded a price of around £70m, which is the same PSG are willing to pay for Kvaratskhelia.
Striker dilemma as United urged to sign Isak
Manchester United have been linked with a number of forwards, including Amorim’s old forward Viktor Gyokeres, but with the Swedish star looking unavailable for now – the Red Devils could turn to his international team-mate Alexander Isak.
Former United player Gary Pallister thinks Amorim should make a move for the in-form Newcastle striker, who has netted nine goals in his last six games.
Arsenal have been strongly linked with the striker amid their own difficulties up front, but Pallister wants his old club to beat them to the punch.
“They’re still looking for a player to get them goals; he looks the finished article and full of confidence. I’m not sure whether they will fork out £150million which is what Newcastle want, but he’d be a great signing for any Premier League side.
“There’s noise out of Old Trafford that they’re looking at new strikers. Rasmus Hojlund has been at the club for a season and a half. Look, I love his attitude but it’s clear he’s learning on the job. The club needs goals right now – Joshua Zirkzee isn’t a striker for me, he’s more of a number ten.
“It’s a shame the club didn’t try and get the Harry Kane deal done when he was on the market. I’d say Isak will be out of the price range for the club, but maybe if something can be done using Marcus Rashford going the other way, I don’t know. The club just need a goalscorer.”
Now United need to make a decision whether they want to pursue a move for Isak…
Manchester United target set for Juventus move
Another forward United have been linked with is PSG star Kolo Randal Muani, who could be involved in a transfer merry-go-round. His exit could potentially pave way for Kvaratskhelia’s arrival – while Garnacho will then replace the Georgian star at Napoli.
Muani has struggled for regular minutes under manager Luis Enrique and has been tipped to join the Premier League, but now it looks likely he will be plying his trade in Serie A.
According to Fabrizio Romano, PSG and Juventus are in advanced talks over bringing Muani to Turin.
The transfer guru has claimed “all documents are ready” for Muani to join Juve, with an agreement set to be struck on Thursday after the player jetted out for a medical.
It comes as a blow to United, who were among the clubs to register an interest along with Tottenham, but the France international has snubbed Premier League clubs to link up with Thiago Motta’s men.
