Manchester United are gearing up for a busy festive period on the pitch, but the January transfer window could also be a chance for new manager Ruben Amorim to evolve his squad
The Marcus Rashford saga is engulfing Manchester United ahead of the January transfer window.
After Ruben Amorim left him out of the squad for last weekend’s epic 2-1 win against bitter rivals Manchester City, Rashford revealed that he’s ‘ready for a new challenge’. His comments came a few days after reports emerged claiming that the Red Devils would be willing to cash in on their academy graduate.
His sale could go a long way in fuelling January signings, as Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s brutal cuts on staff members at the club have shown just how dire of a financial situation United find themselves in. New boss Amorim will be hoping for investment on the pitch, but it’s likely to be a case of sell before you buy.
Here’s a round-up of the latest transfer news from Old Trafford.
Bayern don’t want Rashford
Bayern Munich have ruled themselves out of signing Marcus Rashford following his revelation about leaving Manchester United. Rashford, 27, is set to be available in January, having already fallen out of favour under Ruben Amorim, but he won’t be joining Bayern next month.
According to Bild, the England international is too expensive for the Bundesliga giants or any German club. Teams in Saudi Arabia have already been alerted to his availability, while Paris Saint-Germain continue to be linked after showing interest in 2022.

Dimarco star rejects move
Inter Milan left-back Federico Dimarco has snubbed Manchester United. Italy international Dimarco only has eyes for a new long-term contract with Inter, who he grew up supporting and doesn’t see himself leaving.
Tuttosport, via Goal, report that both Inter and the 27-year-old rejected United’s advances, with the Red Devils keen to sign a new left-back. Luke Shaw remains injured while Tyrell Malacia has only just returned from a 17th-month absence, forcing Noussair Mazraoui and Diogo Dalot to share left-back duties.
Ederson under consideration
Manchester United only have a few players who they’d seriously be willing to sign in January – and Atalanta star Ederson is one of them. Ederson, 25, shone for the Italian side last term as they won the Europa League and hopes to power them to the Serie A title this season.
Sky Germany report that some figures at United are keen on signing the Brazilian midfielder, who’s valued between €50million-€60m (£41m-£49m). However, there’d need to a full consensus at Old Trafford for the Red Devils make a move.
