Man Utd transfer news: Ruben Amorim makes big decision amid Adam Wharton interest

By staff24 August 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

Manchester United have less than two weeks to wrap up their transfer business and there could be plenty more incomings and outgoings before the window slams shut

Manchester United have made three major signings so far this summer, spending big to strengthen their attack with the additions of Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.

They have also signed teenage left-back Diego Leon, while Marcus Rashford has completed a loan move to Barcelona and Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof have been released. However, there could be several more incomings and outgoings before the transfer window slams shut.

There are four players in United’s so-called ‘bomb squad’ that are actively seeking moves away, with Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia not part of Ruben Amorim’s plans.

Here, Mirror Football takes a look at all of the latest transfer news and rumours from in and around Old Trafford…

Amorim makes goalkeeper decision

Although Manchester United are in talks to sign goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp, Ruben Amorim has insisted that does not mean Andre Onana or Altay Bayindir will be sold as a result.

Amorim said: “It’s not an idea that ‘these players are going to leave and then we’ll receive another player’. We don’t know what is going to happen but we are not waiting to take out someone to bring another player [in].

“One thing is not responsible for the other. The players you’re talking about are not players who are training with the group in this moment. We have a group training so it’s not going to affect a lot.”

Wharton interest

According to a report from AS, Manchester United are among a host of clubs interested in signing Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton.

The report states that Real Madrid, Manchester City and Liverpool are also interested in the 21-year-old, who has impressed since making the step up from the Championship to the Premier League last year.

Agoume eyed

Manchester United are weighing up a move for Sevilla midfielder Lucien Agoume, according to Spanish reports.

Brighton star Carlos Baleba was United’s top midfield target this summer, but they appear to have turned their attention to other options with the Seagulls valuing him at more than £100m and the report states that Agoume is on their list of targets.

It is claimed that Agoume would cost between €25m (£21.6m) and €35m (£30.3m) and Sevilla are already looking at potential replacements for the 23-year-old. The report adds that at least three other Premier League clubs are also interested in Agoume.
