A person in their 30s has been accused of raping one of Michael Schumacher’s nurses at his home – and authorities are said to be currently unable to contact the accused
Authorities are reportedly unable to contact a man who has been accused of raping a nurse at Michael Schumacher’s mansion in Gland, Switzerland. Reports from Swiss media claim that a carer, who had been looking after the Ferrari great, was raped by a man in his 30s who was staying at Schumacher’s home.
The allegations are understood to date back to 2019, but have only just come to light. It’s now understood the individual accused of the crime is in Australia.
Swiss prosecutors have stated the accused has “not been heard from in months.” However, with Australia and Switzerland having an extradition treaty, the man could be brought back for cross-examination.
They were hoping to question the man in court on Wednesday, but they are still struggling to track him down. According to The Sun, Swiss prosecutors travelled to Gland to discuss the allegations, only to be told he “has not been heard of for months” but “denies any wrongdoing.”
They also added the man has lost touch with officials, meaning contacting him has not been possible. He stands accused of raping the nurse in one of the mansion’s bedrooms on November 23, 2019.
While a criminal complaint was filed in 2022, Swiss outlet 24heures states the allegation has only come to light because a trial was scheduled for this week.
Prosecutors claim that the incident took place after a night of drinking. According to court filings, the nurse and the alleged rapist crossed paths in the billiards room of the mansion.
It also states they had once kissed in a nightclub in Geneva, but the nurse maintains there has never been an intimate relationship between each other. The nurse also states they were heading to join two colleagues for an evening of playing pool, to conclude a tiring shift at the mansion.
Court documents also state another individual within the group helped the defendant carry the nurse upstairs, where the nurse was placed on the bed “without undressing” and left there with the lights turned on.
The man has been accused of returning to the room and raping the nurse twice while the nurse was unconscious, according to the indictment.
The other two medics who were there on the same evening claim they did not see or hear anything. Two years later, the victim made the criminal complaint.
No members of the Schumacher family are implicated in the allegations with the indictment stating that none of them were present at the time.
Schumacher suffered a horrific head injury while skiing in 2013 – and he has since required around the clock care. Since the German woke from a 250-day coma, his wife Corinna has kept any details and updates of his condition completely private.
