Good Samaritans desperately tried to save a teenage boy after he ran into a stranger’s house with stab wounds and begged: “I don’t want to die”.

The victim, aged 14, sought refuge after he was brutally stabbed on Nevin Road, New Moston, on Sunday. According to the kind Manchester resident who took him in, other locals attempted to give him CPR until emergency services arrived.

An air ambulance was spotted landing in a nearby park at around 5pm, while police and paramedics flooded the area. The boy was raced to hospital but sadly died later that evening.

A resident who was with the teen in his final moments told Manchester Evening News: “He just came through the door and said ‘I’ve been stabbed’. We sat him down on a chair and phoned an ambulance. He just kept saying ‘I don’t want to die’.”

The resident said onlookers performed CPR on the boy until police arrived at the scene and sealed off the area. The victim’s family is currently being supported by specialist officers.

In an updated statement, Greater Manchester Police confirmed they have arrested two boys, aged 14 and 16 on suspicion of murder. The force said: “Early investigations established the identities of possible suspects and after attending a nearby address, a 37-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

“A short time later, two people – males aged 14 and 16 – were arrested on suspicion of murder. A further 14-year-old female has been arrested overnight on suspicion of assisting an offender. All four remain in custody for questioning.”

Detective Chief Inspector John Charlton has since addressed the community and said they are still trying to establish the circumstances. He said: “This incident will have shocked and saddened the local community, and distressed anyone who witnessed it. We are deploying significant resources to this murder investigation, and this led to quickly identifying potential suspects.

“We are still trying to establish the full circumstances around the incident – there will be a large police presence and several scenes in place while we continue to investigate this horrific incident. The boy’s family are being supported by our officers and we are determined to give them the answers they deserve.

“Despite making several arrests, this is still a live investigation, and we are looking for information, doorbell or dashcam footage, or eye-witness accounts from anyone who was in the area at the time quoting log 2250 of 8/6/25.

“Information can be reported to us by calling 101 or anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. You can also use the reporting tools on our website – always call 999 in an emergency. We will provide updates to the family and the community as the investigation continues.”
