Manchester ‘murder’ as boy, 15, stabbed to death and cops launch huge operation

By staff15 September 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

Police were called to the Moss Side area of Manchester this afternoon following reports of a ‘disturbance involving a number of people’ and found a teenager stabbed

A 15-year-old boy was found stabbed after police were called following reports of a “disturbance involving a number of people” in an inner-city area.

Greater Manchester Police said it was called at 4.30pm to Monton Street, in the Moss Side area of the city where they found the teenager with stab wounds. He was treated at the scene and taken to hospital where he was sadly pronounced dead. The force stated: “We were called to Monton Street, Moss Side, at just after 4:30pm today (15 September 2025) to reports of a disturbance involving a number of people.

“A 15-year-old was found with stab wounds and sadly, after being treated at the scene and in hospital, he was pronounced dead a short time later.” Police have put in place a stop and search order which runs until tomorrow evening.

“There will be a section 60 in place until 5:20pm on Tuesday 16 September that allows officers to stop and search people in the area in red,” it said with a map covering the Moss Side area.

Chief Superintendent David Meeney from the City of Manchester district said that specially trained officers are supporting the family of the victim while an investigation is underway to find the attacker.

He said: “There is a thorough investigation plan in place as we look to find the perpetrator of this appalling act that has seen a young man lose his life.

“Our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends after this tragic and upsetting incident, and our specially trained officers will be supporting them at this difficult time. We have officers in the area as we work to establish the circumstances that led up to the incident.”

Ch Spt Meeney also appealed to the public asking for anyone who may have information about the incident to come forward.

“This incident will understandably have caused shock and concern within the community and the surrounding area, particularly those who witnessed it,” he said.

“You will see an increased police presence in the area tonight and over the coming days, as we remain committed to providing the victim’s family with the answers they deserve.

“If anyone has any information or was in the area at the time, they should contact us quoting log 2327 of 15/09/25. Information can be reported by calling 101 or anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. You can also use the reporting tools on our website – always call 999 in an emergency.”
