Retail giant Marks and Spencer has left shoppers swooning over its latest homeware collection – which has been described as “nostalgic” while also drawing comparisons to Liberty London
Excited Marks and Spencer fans are on the hunt for its new collection of “nostalgic” homeware pieces that evoke the look of pricier designer labels, but without breaking the bank.
Creating a living space that’s both welcoming and expressive of one’s individual style is a sought-after goal for many people. Whether you’re a homeowner or a renter, your home needs to feel like a sanctuary and safe space – and the right home décor can be instrumental in reaching this blissful domestic state.
Famed high street icon Marks and Spencer, established back in 1884, has a reputation for offering a plethora of trendy clothing, lush homeware, elegant accessories, gourmet food, and so much more. Its commitment to fine detail and high quality products has kept it as a staple on the British high street.
Like other retail heavyweights, M&S maintains multiple social media platforms, ensuring shoppers are clued-up on all the freshest offerings available both in-store or online. With dedicated Instagram accounts for its various departments, followers can zero in on the exact store sections they fancy.
In an Instagram video recently shared on its main profile, Marks and Spencer flaunted a charming array of serving bowls and dishes, cleverly designed to resemble cabbage leaves—with the humorous caption: “We heard it counts as one of your five a day”.
The post amassed more than 100,000 views on Instagram.
M&S’s nostalgic homeware items
The footage featured items including the verdant Cabbage Serving Bowl, priced at an affordable £15 and available in forest green or pink. There’s also a coordinating salad bowl priced at £17.50 in a soft green hue and its smaller companion for £12.50. Complementing the collection are matching cups, a jug, and more.
These whimsically food-shaped items are just part of an expanded range, sitting alongside the likes of a £15 floral serving bowl available in either pink or white, designed to resemble a blossoming flower, and a red Cabbage Patch Platter costing the same price. The line is rounded off with a sunny, lemon-adorned yellow jug and other items that all tie into the nature-inspired motif.
The love affair with M&S’s line triggered a flood of comments, as customers reminisced over similar pieces that graced their grandparents’ homes when they were children. Some shoppers draw parallels to Liberty’s offerings; however, M&S’s prices offer a more budget-friendly option, particularly when compared to Liberty’s similar Cabbage Leaf Bowl which costs £61.
Instagram was buzzing with excitement—one user professed: “Love this collection”, while another gushed: “Saw these in store yesterday [applause emojis] absolutely LOVE them”.
Another shopper simply commented: “Obsessed!” while another said: “Omg NEED”, and another shared “This is yum, love it!!!!”
Nostalgia continued to be a strong theme as one customer reminisced: “Just like Carltonware! I’ve got some of my mum’s!” Another shared the sentiment: “I love this type of crockery, it reminds of plates and bowls my Mum and Gran had when I was young”.
Echoing this, another shopper shared: “I bought this collection @marksandspencer it just felt so nostalgic like I’d been transported back in time to my nans” while another added: “Oooh very Liberty.”
