The stylish faux-leather bowler bag is part of Marks and Spencer’s second spring collection, which launched in stores and online last week
Marks and Spencer is always our go-to when it comes to getting prepared for a new season, and its latest collection has got us swooning. The high-street favourite is offering plenty of beautiful buys for the warmer days ahead, including those finishing touches that will elevate any outfit.
While many shoppers are going wild for M&S’ bubble-hem top and its matching skirt, we can’t get enough of the Faux Leather Bowler Bag in Bright Red, £39.50. This new-in offering has sleek appearance with two elongated top handles, a zip closure and fully lined interior.
In a recent statement, M&S said of the item: “The East-West bag, with its sleek shape and minimalist straps, effortlessly elevates both daytime and evening looks and offers a modern take on the iconic ’90s baguette.”

There are some cheaper alternatives available on the high street, with River Island’s Red Faux Leather Charm Top Handle Bowler Bag coming in at £36, while the Bright Red Quilted Faux Leather Mini Crossbody Bag from New Look costs £21.99. A much pricier version of the look, though, is Peachy Den’s Chai Faux-Leather Top-Handle Bowler Bag that will set you back £170 on Selfridges.
It’s no secret that baguette bags are having a major moment in the fashion world. Marks and Spencer’s affordable take on the trend delivers serious designer vibes, plus it’s under £40. What’s more, there are two other versions available: a cream snake-print option and olive.
As the Mirror’s fashion and beauty lead, I went to take a look at M&S’ latest spring range last Thursday (April 10) and saw the red version of M&S’ Faux Leather Bowler Bag. I quickly went over to where it was displayed and fell in love.
It’s not just me who adores the design, with a number of shoppers leaving it rave reviews online. One person said: “Handbag very good value for money. Looks and feels good, lovely colour.”
A second person added: This is a lovely and fashionable bag in two attractive colours. It arrived smaller than I thought it would be but that’s my fault for not checking measurements.”
Someone else said the bag was smaller than they expected, but still gave it a five-star rating. Their review reads: “It’s a bit smaller than I expected but looks great. Happy.”
