Mason Mount told to leave and find new club in savage attack by Man Utd legend

Mason Mount has been branded a “lost boy” and told to leave Manchester United to resurrect his career after two injury-ravaged seasons at Old Trafford. Mount has endured a nightmare time since his £55million move from Chelsea to United in 2023.

Injuries have restricted him to just 13 Premier League starts for the Red Devils. The attacking midfielder, who starred for England at the 2022 World Cup, has lost his international place as a result and has seen his career stall since making the move to United.

Against that backdrop, United legend Paul Parker believes it is time for Mount to move on, despite the 26-year-old having got back into the starting line-up towards the end of last season.

“I’ve said it before, but I just can’t ever see him having a key role at Manchester United,” said Parker. “He has no standout qualities and now we’re really seeing why Chelsea were happy to let him go.

“He’s played a bit because other players have been rested and yes, he’s scored, but I haven’t seen anything more from him. He’s clearly one of those players who would benefit from finding a new club.

“I think he needs to figure out who he is as a footballer. What is his identity? He has no identity. Nobody knows what he’s actually good at and I don’t even think he knows himself.

“He looks like a lost boy out there, so first and foremost he needs to find his identity. Otherwise, he won’t succeed at a new club either.”

Parker also claimed Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo would be a “dream signing” for United, who have submitted a £55m bid for the Cameroon international.

“Mbeumo has been absolutely unbelievable,” said Parker, speaking to aceodds.com. “He’s had a completely absurd season, and he has only improved since Ivan Toney left the club. What he’s done for Brentford is incredible.

“He owes a lot to Thomas Frank. This is yet another example of why Frank is one of the best managers in the world, because he gets the best out of his players. He’s outstanding.

“He would be a brilliant signing for United. A magical signing, because he would be a massive step up from the other players. He would be a dream signing. But does he actually want to leave Brentford? Honestly, I’m not sure.

“It’s a fantastic club and if you take away things like money and status, Brentford might just be the best club to play for in the world.”
