One viral TikTok video has shared the simple steps to follow when trying to park on a hill – and it’s so easy, social media users can’t believe they didn’t know about it before

Parking uphill can be a real challenge, but a TikTok hack might just be the solution for those struggling with the incline.

Public members seeking simple steps to enhance their incline parking are in luck as content creator Zutobi has demonstrated the best ways to make hill parks easier and safer for drivers and other road users. The viral collection of tips has assisted dozens of road users, who have since contributed their own advice.

Some tips made the task of parking on an incline much simpler while other parts of the TikTok post offered assistance in ensuring a problem-free drive off from the parking spot. The TikTok reel’s advice suggested parking away from the kerb, with the front wheels pointed towards the road.

It stated: “When you park uphill, turn your wheels away from the kerb. That will create a safe angle. In case your brakes fail, the wheels will bump into the kerb and prevent the vehicle from rolling back.”

For those who found themselves parking where there was no kerb, then the wheels should be turned the other way “so your vehicle will roll away from traffic.” Downhill parking help was also available, with wheel turning action needed once more to ensure a safe park.

“When you park downhill, turn your wheels toward the kerb,” the TikTok suggested. “Now if the brakes fail, your vehicle won’t roll down but will be stopped by the kerb.” The suggestion to turn the wheels away from the kerb where there is not one tall enough to stop the vehicle from rolling was also proposed.

Comments left on the TikTok post suggested parking in first gear and pulling the handbrake so that “even if the brake fails, the first gear won’t let the car move.” Another user chimed in: “and when you are parking uphill leave it in first and downhill in reverse so that your car will also be stopped by gearbox .”
