Former Love Island star Maura Higgins says she’s ‘done’ with reality TV and has turned down some of the UK’s most popular shows, including Big Brother and Strictly Come Dancing
Maura Higgins has confirmed she’s finished with reality television after rejecting offers from some of Britain’s biggest programmes.
The former Love Island and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! contestant, 34, confessed that she’s now completed all the TV projects she has set her sights on and has no interest in participating in Big Brother or Strictly Come Dancing.
“There’s not,” Maura responded when questioned about any remaining shows on her wishlist. “I’ve done all the ones I’ve wanted. I’ve turned down Big Brother, Celebs Go Dating multiple times, and MasterChef.”
Following her time on Love Island back in 2019, Maura has since appeared on Dancing On Ice and in 2024, she headed to the Australian jungle to take part in I’m A Celebrity. Maura also did a stint on Celebrity Traitors US last year.

While she has been offered to appear on some of the biggest shows in the UK, she is now done with reality TV shows.
“I even got a call about Strictly, but it’s not on my manifest board. I’ve never danced, so I don’t know if I’d pick up the steps. I’m trying to think of the bigger ones, but honestly, I’ve ticked them off,” Maura told The Mirror.
She chuckled when probed about her mysterious “manifest board”, saying “I’ll never tell. There are lots of things on it, but I won’t say. I’ve just done Traitors USA, which is out in January. It was amazing, but I can’t say more right now.”
Maura has additionally landed her first acting role in the film The Spin, portraying a character named Rose in the production helmed by director Michael Head, and she concedes it proved quite the challenge.
“If you blink, you’ll miss me in the movie,” she chuckled. “But I just grabbed the opportunity. I thought it would be really fun, and it was filmed in Ireland. If I were ever going to do something like this for the first time, I’d want it to be in Ireland.”
Maura disclosed the toughest aspect was genuinely transforming into a different person. “I genuinely didn’t know what I was doing. I’m used to being around cameras, but being another character, that’s the hardest part. I enjoyed it so much though. Everyone on set was really lovely.
“I did what was asked of me, and I take direction well, I think. But I haven’t even seen the film yet, so there are nerves. It’s something I’ve never done before, and I’m like, ‘ahh!’ I’ve never acted in my life.”
When questioned about whether she’ll pursue additional roles, Maura was candid when she said: “I don’t think I’m cut out for it.
“I don’t think I have a natural talent for acting. I’m pretty sure if I did, my mum would’ve noticed when I used to act out scenes from movies growing up. Rose is a little bit like me anyway, but I didn’t know what I was doing.”
For the time being, Maura revealed she’s content to move away from reality television and explore fresh opportunities, demonstrating she’s prepared to embrace challenges even if it means abandoning the familiar territory of the small screen.
