The Wanted star Max George recently revealed that he may have to spend Christmas in hospital after doctors discovered a problem with his heart
The Wanted star Max George revealed he may have to undergo open heart surgery after being rushed to the hospital last week.
Max previously said that he may have to spend Christmas in hospital this year, with doctors seemingly confirming that there could be an issue with his heart. Max’s mum, Barbara, also shared some details about the terrifying situation. She said: “Max is in the hospital right now and he’s being very well taken care of. I took him to A&E this week where he was looked at.”
In a new update shared with fans, the 36-year-old revealed he might need a pacemaker to fix a problem with the “lower part of his heart”. On his Instagram Stories, he filmed a video from the hospital and said: “So latest is that 100 per cent I’m going to have a little friend put in here at some point,” as he pointed at his heart.
He went on to tell fans that he needs to undergo further tests before doctors will determine what type of surgery he will need. The singer continued: “I’ve got an issue with the bottom part of my heart, it’s called a block. The trick bit is is what I have put in, until I have further tests we don’t know what’s caused it.
“We’ve cancelled out a few things, like alcohol for example, I’ve not had a drink in four-and-a-half years. So it’s not that. It’s a bit of a mystery really, the hard bit is the waiting.” He went on to explain that it’s been ‘tough’ waiting around and added that his heart rate is ‘really really low which they’re monitoring 24/7.’
“It’s just one of them things, unfortunately,” he said. “Whatever I get I just got to get on with it. I’m hoping pacemaker is good, we can do pretty good with that.” Max’s mum previously opened up about what happened and told fans: “Max is in the hospital right now and he’s being very well taken care of. I took him to A&E this week where he was looked at.”
“He is in the best place he can possibly be right now. He’s very grateful for all the well-wishes from his fans and he’s got all his friends and family around him too. They have done some tests to see what the best management will be going forward,” she divulged of his current status.
When Max first revealed his health scare on Thursday, he described: “Yesterday I felt really unwell and was taken into hospital. Unfortunately after some tests they’ve found that I have some issues with my heart. I have a lot more tests to determine the extent of the problems and what surgery I will need to get me back on my feet. It’s gonna be a difficult few weeks / months… and Christmas in a hospital bed wasn’t exactly what I had planned! But, as always, I’m surrounded with love and support by my wonderful partner Maisie, her family, my family and friends.. and I’m 100% in the best place.”
