Love Island host, Maya Jama, put Islander, Ben Holbrough, firmly in his place on the ITV show last week, winning her praise from Aftersun panellist, Sam Thompson
Maya Jama has admitted that ITV cuts some of her scenes from Love Island when she’s giving ‘feedback’ to the Islanders. The plucky presenter, 30, was praised last week when she put model, Ben Holbrough, firmly in his place, quipping: “I didn’t really like that, Ben. It was unnecessary” after he made a crude remark about bombshell, Lauren Wood.
Love Island spin-off panellist, Sam Thompson, applauded Maya for criticising the model as he told the former Radio 1 DJ: “You smashed it with Ben by the way, yeah, you nailed that.” However, explaining that she ‘always speaks’ but it doesn’t always make the cut, Maya responded: “Thank you, but you do have to remember we film for a long time, I do always speak, it just doesn’t always get involved.”

Keen to move on after the reveal, she added: “But there you got my two pence.”
After it was announced that Harrison Solomon had recoupled with bombshell, Lauren, despite previously romancing Toni Laites, Maya asked the pool cabana server what she thought.
Referring to Tommy Bradley switching Emily Moran for Lucy Quinn, Toni, 24 replied: “Tommy obviously surprised me, the rest of them not so much.”
But then Ben quipped: “I think I’ve got to give it to Harrison – what Lauren’s been able to give him in three days, you haven’t been able to do in two or three weeks.”
Toni spat: “Save it, b****” as Maya, clearly unimpressed by Ben’s comment, retorted: “I didn’t really like that Ben, that was unnecessary.”
Fans shared their thoughts about the sassy exchange on social media earlier as one person wrote on Instagram: “Maya is brilliant. Best TV host award.” Another said: “Love that Maya put Ben in his place.” A third viewer wrote: “Thank you Maya!”
Someone else said: “You tell him Maya” as viewer wrote: “Maya getting involved, chefs kiss.” Meanwhile, another fan reacted to a clip of the scene that was shared on the platform, musing: “I love Maya calling them out for their behaviour.”
However, not everyone was impressed, as one viewer replied: “Suppose to be impartial Maya” as another said: “But it’s true what Ben said Harrison looks happier than he was with Toni.”
Maya also gave her “two pence” earlier in the show when Harry and Helena were reunited during Wednesday’s episode when Harry surprisingly returned from Casa single, despite exploring a connection with bombshell, Rheo Parnell.
Rheo lifted the lid on their time together, claiming there were “kisses in bed, cuddles and all sorts” between her and Harry.
Andrada Pop then said Harry admitted he ‘didn’t miss’ his couple during Casa, which prompted an awkward response from the semi-professional footballer and Helena, who burst into laughter.
However, stoney-faced, Maya questioned their reaction, saying: “I don’t know, I probably wouldn’t find it that funny if I was in a couple with someone like that.”
