McDonald’s is shaking up its menu with a limited edition Minecraft movie meal and brand new McFlurry flavour. There is also a new spicy Nether Flame Sauce being added to UK menus.

The limited edition Nether Flame Sauce inspired by the Nether – which is a hell-like dimension in the Minecraft series, containing fire and lava – with crushed red pepper and flaming cayenne, balanced with hints of garlic and sweetness. Meanwhile, there is also a new Apple Cake McFlurry at McDonald’s, which features apple and shortcake pieces, and finished with a sour apple sauce.

The Minecraft movie meal is “crafted for adults” and features a Big Mac or nine McNuggets or four Veggie Dippers, plus your choice of side and drink. It also comes with an exclusive collectable toy of your favourite McDonald’s characters, blockified. The Minecraft movie meal is available in medium or large size.

The new menu is available from March 26 for a limited time. Ben Fox, Senior Vice President Chief Marketing Officer at McDonald’s UK and Ireland, said: “McDonald’s is exploring a brand-new world with the A Minecraft Movie collaboration. We’re always looking for fun and exciting ways to bring excitement to our menu and the A Minecraft Movie Meal is a perfect way to bring two icons together.

“This partnership has allowed us to bring amazing collectibles, crafted for adults, to the UK for the first-time ever! We can’t wait for fans to meet their favourite McDonaldsland characters in blockified form, and to experience the new products which have been inspired by the A Minecraft Movie universe – Nether Sauce and Apple Cake McFlurry.”

  • Minecraft Movie Meal – £8.19
  • Apple Cake McFlurry – £2.19
  • Apple Cake McFlurry – Mini £1.69

But sadly, it isn’t all good news, as the Shamrock Shake, Mozzarella Dippers and Mars McFlurry will all be leaving the menu on March 25. The Shamrock Shake is a peppermint-flavoured milkshake that is green in colour. It is usually only sold in the US and Ireland to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.

The Mars McFlurry is soft dairy ice cream swirled with crunchy chocolate-covered nougat pieces and topped with caramel sauce, while Mozzarella Dippers are sticks of mozzarella cheese coated in breadcrumbs and served with a salsa dip. McDonald’s is still serving its Philly Cheese Stack, which features two beef patties with a cheese sauce, cheese slices, grilled and crispy onions and pickles served in a toasted bun.

This will be available until May 6 alone with the McCrispy BBQ Smokehouse, made with chicken breast fillet in a crunchy coating with a smoky BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese, red onion, and lettuce, and its Raspberry and White Chocolate Pie, featuring a pink pastry filled with a white chocolate ganache and raspberry compote.

You can also still buy the Katsu Chicken One wrap, which includes your choice of crispy or grilled chicken, coated in katsu sauce, packed with crispy onions, cucumber, and lettuce in a toasted tortilla, until June 17.

McDonald’s has more than 1,400 UK restaurants, around 80% of which are franchised, and it employs over 170,000 people. In summer last year, the fast food chain announced plans to open 200 restaurants and create 24,000 jobs across the UK and Ireland by 2028 as part of a huge expansion.
