Megan McKenna shared how she and her family had been through a testing time recently as she made her return to social media following a brief break
Megan McKenna took to social media to share a heartbreaking update about her family.
The former TOWIE star and singer posted a series of photos revealing she had been in London to attend the funeral of her beloved grandmother, Nanny Jean.
Showcasing the stunning floral arrangements in tribute to her grandmother, who passed away last month, she revealed how it had been difficult the day had been but acknowledged the beauty of the service, which honored her grandmother’s memory.
Currently residing in Germany with her fiancé, Oliver Burke, and their son, Landon, Megan returned to the UK to bid farewell to her cherished relative.
She wrote: “The hardest but most beautiful day celebrating your life, Nanny. The very best for you, Nan. Thank you to everyone who came today – I feel so lucky to have such an amazing family.”
Last month, Megan shared the sad news of her grandmother’s passing with a heartfelt video montage, admitting that it ‘doesn’t feel real’ but that she takes comfort in knowing her nan is now at peace.
“You’re now my guardian angel, Nan. I will forever love and miss you so much. You weren’t just my nan, you were my best friend. I’ll miss our FaceTime calls, coffee dates, and Sunday roast dinners every day,” she wrote.
She added: “It doesn’t feel real that you’re not with us anymore. I’m glad you’re at peace now. You will always be remembered as a beautiful lady with the most stylish wardrobe. I’m so grateful that Landon got to meet his Nanny Jean.”
Megan welcomed Landon via C-section and shared raw footage of her birth experience in Germany. She revealed that he was born at 8:33 AM on October 7.
In September, Megan made the significant decision to relocate to Germany with her footballer fiancé, Olly Burke, who plays as a right winger for Bundesliga club Werder Bremen. Opting to give birth abroad, she shared her excitement and nervousness about the move.
In a previous Instagram update, Megan told her followers: “Guess what! I’m moving to Germany. I know some of you thought I was going into labor yesterday, but no, let’s hope I don’t just yet because I’ll now be giving birth in Germany!”
She explained that their belongings had been in storage for months while Olly was in Germany, and she was looking forward to the change despite the challenges.
Megan later revealed that their original birth plan had to be altered last minute, leading to a hectic and rushed experience. While the initial plan was for Olly to return to the UK for the birth, she ultimately decided to give birth in Germany to ensure he wouldn’t miss the arrival of their baby.
