Meghan Markle was seen in high spirits as she sipped coffee in her Range Rover as Prince Harry returned home after a whirlwind trip to the UK to visit his cancer-stricken father King Charles
Meghan Markle was all smiles as she was spotted driving around her neighbourhood as Prince Harry made his return to California after a brief visit to see his cancer-stricken father, King Charles III.
The Duchess of Sussex’s drive marks the first time she was spotted since her husband flew off to England by alone to pay a surprise visit to see his father who was recently diagnosed with cancer. The Duke of Sussex reportedly “took it upon himself” to visit the UK to see King Charles after discovering the upsetting news about his health.
After a quick 24-hour visit Prince Harry was jetting back to California and Meghan seemed to be in high spirits the day of his arrival. In the snaps, the 42-year-old was seen beaming ear to ear as she took a ride in her black Range Rover in her Montecito neighbourhood where the family’s $14million (£11million) home lies.

During the low-key outing, Meghan was seen wearing a white baseball hat on top of a low ponytail as she sported a pair of dark sunglasses. Despite the upsetting news about her father-in-law, the former Suits actress seemed to look relaxed as she leisurely drove and sipped coffee from a white mug.
The former Suits actresses’ outing came just a few hours before Prince Harry returned home from London to visit his cancer-stricken das. While little has been revealed about King Charles’ diagnosis, the update comes just a week after the 75-year-old went to have an enlarged prostate treated. During Prince Harry’s whirlwind trip it was reported that he shared a very brief visit with his father that lasted only around 30 minutes.
According to Robert Jobson writing for MailOnline, King Charles was “unhappy about what amounted to a fait accompli served up by an emotional but well-meaning son”. He added that Charles needs peace and quiet, and had planned to fly off to Norfolk with his wife, Queen Camilla, much earlier on Tuesday which was interrupted by Prince Harry’s abrupt visit.
During Prince Harry’s day-long visit he opted to stay at a luxury hotel rather than any of the Royal residences. While Prince Harry’s unexpected gesture might have not have been met well during his father’s current state, it is clear that he is determined to make amends with the Royal Family. This trip marks just one of the many instances in which Prince Harry has tried to get his relationship with his father back on track after a rocky year in the spotlight.
