In a brand new interview, Meghan Markle has talked about her life at home in Montecito ahead of the release of her Netflix series – and has revealed more about why she left the Invictus Games several days early
Meghan Markle has hinted why she left Prince Harry solo at the Invictus Games for several days following her sudden exit.
The Duchess of Sussex joined her husband in Canada for several days of competition at the Invictus Games in both Vancouver and Whistler. While there she documented her time on Instagram, showing them attending the star-studded opening ceremony and even trying out tubing down a snowy slope.
But after several days of the competition, Meghan headed back to California to Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet – leaving Harry to fly solo for the last few days of the tournament and the closing ceremony.
And in a brand new candid interview with PEOPLE magazine, Meghan reveals that Archie and Lilibet were sick just before she returned to them. The publication says that during her time in Canada Meghan stayed in close touch with mum Doria, who was looking after the children, making sure they were seen by a doctor and were sipping bone broth.
The magazine reports that when it visited Meghan at home, Archie, aged five, was curled up sleeping next to his mum. She explained that he told her “Mama, don’t work too hard” as she tried to care for the children as well as work on her new brand As Ever.
At the previous Invictus Games in 2023 in Dusseldorf, Meghan only joined her husband for part of the event, opting to stay behind in California with their children for the first few days of the tournament.
It comes as Meghan also opens up about the “learning curve” she experienced with her lifestyle series and brand, admitting there had been “tons of twists and turns”. The duchess said she did not identify as an influencer nor a tradwife – short for traditional wife. And she thanked those who “gave me the grace to make mistakes and figure it out”.
With Love, Meghan airs on the streaming platform at 8am UK on Tuesday – midnight on the west of the America – after being delayed from January due to the LA wildfires. The show is being seen as a make-or-break moment for the Sussexes, who signed a multi-million pound deal with Netflix in 2020.
Meghan renamed her lifestyle brand As Ever, switching from the name American Riviera Orchard just weeks before the launch after facing trademarking setbacks.
The duchess told the publication: “I appreciate everyone who gave me the grace to make mistakes and figure it out, and also to be forgiving with myself through that. It’s a learning curve. She described how there were “tons of twists and turns — even with the name”, adding “I was figuring it out in real time.”
Meghan also told how she had found making the series “super joyful”, saying: “As a woman, a mom and a wife, to be able to find yourself again … is a wonderful feeling.”
