The Duchess of Sussex has given fans a glimpse inside her incredible Montecito mansion after revealing how singer Billie Eilish helped her surprise a fan following the LA wildfires
Meghan Markle has given fans a rare peek inside her stunning California mansion.
After stepping back as senior royals in January 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex now live in Montecito with their two children, Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three. As well as being home to Prince Harry and Meghan, celebrities including Oprah Winfrey and Sharon Stone have houses in the area – with the latter gushing over the pair’s “caring” role in the local community.
“You know, the thing about them that is so great is they didn’t come here to live off of our community, they came here to be a part of our community,” she said. “My friend said she was sitting in her car and they bicycled across the street and waved at her while she was sitting at the red light.”
She added: “They’re a part of our community, they’ve become a giving, caring, participating part of our community. They’re not here to be like ‘Would you like to kiss my butt?’”
In a recent clip shared on Instagram, Meghan has given fans a glimpse inside a previously unseen room from her home as she revealed how singer Billie Eilish had helped her with one sweet gesture. Following the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, Meghan visited some of those affected and came across a teen whose house had sadly been destroyed.
After speaking with the teen’s mum, Meghan revealed that the youngster had lost a tour T-shirt from a recent concert of Billie’s. After reaching out to the star, the Duchess of Sussex was overjoyed to discover that a parcel of merchandise had arrived.
As she showed off the huge haul, fans caught a glimpse of the inside of Meghan and Harry’s incredible home which features bright white walls and wooden beams on the ceilings. The room also has a large window overlooking the sprawling outdoor space.
In keeping with the light and airy feel of the home, the room is decorated with lots of white decor including a shelving unit filled with an assortment of vases. Meanwhile, a cosy white window seat makes the most of the enviable view.
Elsewhere, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s nine-bedroom home has a gorgeous office, ideal for the pair’s work projects. Like the previous room, the space has a neutral colour palette and a large oak desk which is placed at the centre of the study in front of a grand stone fireplace that is fitted with iron gates.
The desk is accessories with a stack of Meghan’s children’s book, The Bench, while her Apple MacBook is elevated on a pile of white hardbacks. The large area has a natural carpet and features a large fig tree which is positioned by one of the windows.
In an interview with The Cut magazine in 2022, Meghan opened up about her love for the property and revealed that she fell for it almost immediately. “We were looking in this area,” she began. “And this house kept popping up online in searches.”
While at first she resisted the urge to check out the property, she was head over heels after eventually touring it. “We didn’t have jobs, so we just were not going to come and see this house. It wasn’t possible. It’s like when I was younger and you’re window shopping – it’s like, I don’t want to go and look at all the things that I can’t afford. That doesn’t feel good,” she explained.
The home, which has over five acres of land, has a chicken coop to pool house as well as two interconnected palm trees in the garden that were a major selling point for the couple. According to the journalist behind the profile, the property “evokes a classic Tuscan villa”.
