Harry is reported to have spent just over half an hour with the ailing King, who has had wife Queen Camilla by his side. Many are hoping that the King’s health battle will help bring the family back together again, following Charles and Prince William having a famously frosty relationship with the Duke of Sussex following his and Meghan’s bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview in 2021.
However, hopes of a reconciliation will have to be put on hold for the estranged brothers, as the pair did not meet up during Harry’s whirlwind UK visit. Harry also didn’t meet up with Princess Kate, who has been recovering after undergoing abdominal surgery last month.
Harry was spotted at London’s Heathrow airport on Wednesday following his 24-hour trip as he headed back to Los Angeles, California. The former senior royal was seen smiling as he entered the airport’s Windsor Suite.
The royal was spotted in casual attire consisting of jeans, a light-coloured top and a black jacket as he warmly greeted the doorman at the exclusive suite.
Harry reportedly arrived at Heathrow just ahead of 2pm, and he was due onboard British Airways flight 269, Daily Mail reported, meaning he was set to arrive in Los Angeles at 6.30pm local time.
Meghan and the children didn’t join Harry on his 24-hour trip to the UK. It was reported that Meghan skipped the visit after feeling like it was something Harry “had to do alone”.
The King’s former butler Grant Butler, who worked alongside the King for seven years, said the New York Post: “Meghan made the decision that it was best to stay home with the children, and maybe she feels that this is something Harry has got to do alone. It’s his father. She’s aware of the close relationship and probably encouraged him to come over.”
He continued: “It’s good that he’s showing support for his father and, who knows, this might make amends possibly.”
