Confessions of a Female Founder podcast trailer with Meghan
Meghan Markle has released the trailer for her brand new podcast – her first since she and Prince Harry parted ways with Spotify. The teaser for Confessions of a Female Founder, made with Lemonada Media, sees Meghan saying that it will give the “kind of advice that turns small ideas into billion-dollar businesses”.
In the one-minute preview for the show which premieres on April 8, the Duchess of Sussex says, “I’m Meghan, and this is Confessions of a Female Founder, a show where I chat with female entrepreneurs and friends about the sleepless nights, the lessons learned, and the laser focus that got them to where they are today.
“We’re diving into the highs — and the lows – and the kind of advice that turns small ideas into billion-dollar businesses. And of course, we’re going to get some girl talk!”
The preview also includes interviews from the show where guests talk about their businesses. In one clip, Meghan also quizzes one about her relationship status asking: “Are you saying you’re not single now? Have I missed something in the past couple weeks? What’s happening?!”
The clip also features Meghan saying: “And through it all, I’m building a business of my own, and getting all sorts of practical advice along the way that I’m very excited to share with you. So join me for Confessions of a Female Founder from Lemonada Media, which by the way, is also female-founded. Launching April 8, wherever you get your podcasts.”
The trailer finishes with Meghan giggling and saying: “This is not Shark Tank, think of this as ‘dolphin tank.’ These are very friendly waters, it’s all going to be good.” Shark Tank is the US equivalent of the hit BBC show in the UK, Dragon’s Den, where entrepreneurs pitch business ideas.
The trailer comes just hours after Meghan launched her brand new Instagram shop – a collection of clothing and accessories with some items featuring links through which commission can be earned. Meghan posted a rare photograph of herself with her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to her profile yesterday, and also shared a story of a collection of her style inspirations with purchase links.
She posted a ShopMy link in a story, featuring a collection of clothes and accessories, with the message: “Many of you have asked, so here you go! A little shopping to start the week. More to come”. A message on the ShopMy page read: “A handpicked and curated collection of the things I love — I hope you enjoy them!” with the addition: “Please note, some products may contain commissionable links.”
The items, mostly in her signature neutral colours, included an oversized white shirt by Reformation for £128, a beige Uniqlo raincoat costing £99.90 and a gold Maya Brenner Happiness Retreat citrine stone necklace, made in collaboration with Meghan’s former Suits co-star Abigail Spencer, for £383.
The collection also includes a pre-order link for a £712 handbag from Cesta Collective, a brand which she told the New York Times she had invested in last summer. Other items include leather sandals made by shoe designer Emme Parsons for sale on luxury American department store Bergdorf Goodman’s website for 495 US dollars (£383).

While some products are from high street chains like Gap, others are from small boutiques including a £395 brown blouse from Brochu Walker. Her story showed the disclaimer: “Please note, some products may contain commissionable links” in asterisks on her ShopMy page but did not have a specific disclaimer on the post itself.
In the UK, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) requires people sharing affiliate links – which are unique URLs that allow companies to track who is responsible for a sale or lead – to identify links and sections of content related to affiliate products as advertising. Many influencers will mark such content with “ad – affiliate link” on Instagram stories when they can earn a commission from purchases made through links shared.
The duchess’ former Archetypes podcast about female stereotypes in 2022 ran for just one series, and was part of the Sussexes’ previous multimillion pound deal with Spotify, which ended the year after. After the Archetypes podcast was scrapped by Spotify, an executive of the company branded The Duke and Duchess of Sussex “f**king grifters”. Bill Simmons, Head of Podcast Innovation and Monetisation at Spotify hit out at the pair in his own podcast last year.
He said: “The f***ing grifters. That’s the podcast we should have launched with them.“ The Spotify boss added: “I’ve got to get drunk one night and tell the story of the Zoom I had with Harry to try and help him with a podcast idea. It’s one of my best stories.”
The first episode of Meghan’s new podcast due to drop on April 8, and its launch is set to clash with a major event for King Charles and Queen Camilla with it coming right in the middle of their upcoming trip to Italy. It was confirmed by Buckingham Palace last week that the King and Queen would be heading to both Rome and Ravenna from April 7 to April 10.
The historic tour, exclusively revealed earlier this year by The Mirror, will also see the couple visit the Vatican with a meeting with frail Pope Francis also on the cards due to his improving outlook after he left hospital on Sunday. The trip will also see Charles and Camilla in Italy for their 20th wedding anniversary on April 9.
However, it is not the first time that projects by Meghan and Prince Harry have appeared to clash with major royal events. In 2022, the trailer for their explosive Netflix documentary was released when the Prince and Princess of Wales visited Boston for the Earthshot Prize.
Meanwhile, back in 2019, Meghan, who was still a working royal at the time, is said to have left Camilla “very upset” after photos of her were released as she gave the landmark speech. Meghan was said to have broken a pledge not to overshadow Camilla’s campaign on domestic violence by having the pictures of her private visit to the National Theatre be published the same day.
Meanwhile, on the royal trip to Italy, Charles will pass two milestones, becoming the first British monarch to visit the Papal Basilica of St Paul Outside the Walls, the resting place of St Paul since the reformation, and address both houses of Italy’s parliament. The King will hold audiences with Italy’s President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and the monarch and his wife will attend a black-tie state banquet at the Palazzo Quirinale, hosted by the president.
