With season two of Meghan Markle’s Netflix show, With Love, Meghan, airing next week, it has us thinking about some of the brands and products that the Duchess of Sussex had previously listed as her favourites. Tatcha’s famous Dewy Skin Cream was one – and now that Tatcha has just dropped a seriously smart new anti-ageing serum, we wonder if this will be making its way into her bathroom cabinet too.

Launching today, 18 August, Tatcha’s The Longevity Serum taps into the current longevity trend with some clever science, creating a formula that’s proven to reduce ageing skin cells to delay visible signs of ageing. The result is skin that’s visibly firmer and smoother after just one week, with the look of fine lines improvements after two weeks.

The key ingredient in this Tatcha Longevity Serum, which costs £82, is something called an ‘Okinawa Cellescence Complex’, a centuries-old blend of Japanese herbs and plants, known for their benefits on the skin. This helps to target senescent skin cells – also called ‘zombie cells’ – that give off inflammatory molecules and trigger inflammation that can lead to signs of premature ageing, and reduce them by 55%.

In Tatcha’s tests, 100% showed an improvement in skin barrier immediately and 90% showed an improvement in skin texture and moisturisation, while after one week of use, 100% showed visibly firmer, smoother skin, improved skin texture and softness. And after two weeks, 100% of testers reported an improvement in the look of fine lines.

Like a lot of serums, this one is designed to be used morning and night after cleansing and before your moisturiser or SPF. If you have dry skin, Tatcha’s iconic Dewy Skin Cream, from £26, gives a gorgeous glowy finish, while its new lighter sister, The Dewy Milk Moisturiser, £61, is better suited to normal-to-combination skin.

This Tatcha serum is the latest in a line of smart serums to launch recently, including Medik8 C-Tetra Advanced, £69, and Liquid Peptides Advanced MP, £79, and P-Tiox Neuro-Peptide Serum from SkinCeuticals, £130, which contains a multi-peptide complex as well as PHA, niacinamide and laminaria extract to target nine different types of wrinkles, SkinCeuticals claims, from crow’s feet to forehead lines.

If you’re looking for a cheaper alternative, Naturium Multi-Peptide Advance Serum comes highly rated by beauty editors, and is £27.
