After a ‘busy and stressful’ few months, mother-of-two Meghan Markle is looking forward to one thing with her family over the festive period, according to a source
Meghan Markle has one aspiration with Prince Harry and her children after a ‘stressful’ few months, a source says.
The Duchess of Sussex, 43, is reportedly excited to host loved ones for Thanksgiving weekend and teach her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, the true meaning of the American celebration. It’s believed Meghan and Harry will be spending the bank holiday ‘without distractions’ and with friends who are ‘like family’.
The celebrations come as the once-inseparable pair have been going solo to public events that are coasts apart, rather than appearing side-by-side as they have in the past. It’s a huge difference to two years ago, when Meghan likened herself and her husband to salt and pepper as they always “move together”.
Recently, Meghan has been working on her cookery series for Netflix and gearing up to launch her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard. Meanwhile, Harry has been spending time focusing on next year’s Invictus Games, which will take place in February in Vancouver and Whistler in Canada.
Speaking to HELLO! Magazine about Meghan’s plans for the festive season, a source said: “Meghan loves cooking and being in the kitchen, hosting and entertaining. The kids are old enough now where she can include them and teach them some of the American Thanksgiving traditions that she grew up with.”
They added: “They will enjoy the long weekend and having time together without distractions.” The source said Meghan has had a “busy and stressful” few months as she focuses on her career, but the holiday season will bring a “slower pace” for the Sussex family and allow them quality time as a family at home.
Meghan and Harry’s professional distance has increased since they embarked on a joint tour of Colombia in the summer. Sources close to the couple say it shows their new “twin-track approach” with Harry focusing on his charity endeavours and Meghan on her entrepreneurial projects and business.
Their solo public appearances are set to continue next week. On Wednesday (December 4), Meghan is expected to appear at a glitzy Hollywood party honouring her celeb pal Tyler Perry. Meanwhile, thousands of miles away in New York, Harry will be at The New York Times DealBook Conference.
Next month, the couple will celebrate their fourth Christmas in the States. Meghan recently gave a sneak peek into their holiday spirit when chatting with Marie Claire, saying: “I love the holidays. [The children] are now three and five, so every year it gets better. At first, I think as a mum with children you’re just enjoying having them there, but they’re not understanding everything that’s happening yet. But now we’re at the age where I just can’t wait to see it through their lens every year.”
