BBC Radio One presenter Melvin Odoom lost a staggering 1st while in the I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! camp as he showed off his chiseled abs in a topless selfie
Melvin Odoom has showed off the results of his diet of rice and beans after returning home from I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!.
The presenter and radio DJ, 44, has arrived back in the UK following his stint in the Australian jungle. He had to make do with small meals in camp and unusual concoctions following Bushtucker trials. Melvin has revealed the impact of the jungle diet on his physique as he showed off his abs in a topless selfie.
He admitted the diet helped his achieve his new look and drop 7kg, which is equivalent to just over 1st. The BBC Radio host said: “Lost some pounds, gained some abs…highly recommend the rice and beans jungle diet. For anyone that’s asking I went from 71KG to 64KG.” Melvin stood in a bathroom mirror as he took a photo of his trimmed frame.
Fans flooded with star with compliments as one said: “Looking good Melvin and has carol called yet??” Another added: “Send me the rice & beans recipe please!” Someone else commented: “They need to start doing I’m Not a Celeb retreats for that quick weight loss journey before a special occasion.” A fourth wrote: “Carol is going to be one lucky lady,” with a flame emoji.
While on the hit ITV show, Melvin proclaimed his love for Carol Vorderman. He admitted to having a crush on the former Countdown star and even teased he wanted to go on a date with her. Fans had been hoping the pair may get in touch once Melvin exited the jungle.
However, a camp feud has spilled out of the show since the celebrities returned home. During the show’s reunion, Dean McCullough took Melvin to one side, and squared up to him for ‘upsetting’ him with the infamous ‘Houdini’ nickname on the show. Melvin and Dean were teamed up to collect water for the camp during their time on the ITV show, but Dean had plenty of complaints about the task.
“It’s an awful job and I hate it and I don’t want to do it anymore… Guys I can’t. It’s not for me,” he moaned. Melvin quipped: “Listen, your new name is Houdini because you like to disappear.” While Dean didn’t appear to be too upset by the jibes at the time, he confronted Melvin in the reunion show.
Dean said to his Radio 1 colleague: “I love how the whole Houdini popped off, the memes were brilliant.” Melvin replied: “I don’t think people realised why that happened, I was busy doing the water thing, I just wanted you to help so I was thinking I’m just gonna drop this line with half the camp there, make everyone laugh.”
But things turned as Dean said: “I wish you had told me, that upset me.” Melvin replied: “If I’m trying to give someone a message, I always use humour, that’s my number one way of communicating with people, that’s essentially my weapon, and that’s all that was.” Dean added: “I saw Bush Telegraphs of you saying, ‘Oh, it’s another chore to ask Dean to do the chores’.”
Melvin explained: “Me calling you Houdini was my way of telling you I need help, when we said, ‘Let’s do the water’, I came up the steps and you were having a shower, when I came down you were folding your clothes by the bed, by the time I said, ‘Houdini’ that was me saying, ‘I need help’.” Dean said that it would have been better for Melvin to “take him to the side,” with Melvin reiterating that it was no big deal.
