Michelin-trained chef Poppy O’Toole has revealed a slow cooker recipe that’s being hailed as a ‘game changer’ – as it can be left to simmer all day without needing much attention.
As the autumn equinox is fast approaching (Sunday, 22nd September to be exact), it’s the ideal time to start considering cosy meals, switching to a thicker duvet, and pulling out a jumper or two.
Summer salads and barbecue meats are making way for hearty stews, nutritious soups, and delicious casseroles. And the optimal method to prepare any of these dishes is with the slow cooker.

Poppy’s new book, The Actually Delicious Slow Cooker Cookbook, is due out next week (Thursday 12th September) and the viral ‘Potato Queen’ shared one of her favourite recipes on TikTok.
Posting on social media, she captioned the post: “Slow cooker ‘Marry Me’ Chicken.” Detailing the process, Poppy revealed that she had created all the recipes so that all the ingredients could be combined, stirred, and left to cook.
After six to seven hours on low, which means you can leave it all day to simmer with no bother to you, it’ll be ready to serve with pasta, potatoes or veg. Once it’s done, simply remove the lid and pull apart the chicken breasts into shreds, then serve.
Ahead of her new book’s release, Poppy also shared the ingredients with her 4.4 million followers.
