Justice Minister Alex Davies-Jones confirmed that the UK could face the “biggest shake-up to our driving laws for decades” on BBC Breakfast this morning. The Labour minister confirmed the Government is considering whether the current limit is too high as part of a wide-ranging plans to overhaul driving rules.

Under the proposals, Brits could also get points on their licence for not wearing a seatbelt or tougher punishments for driving without insurance. Over 70s could also be banned from driving if they fail compulsory eye tests.

Ms Davies-Jones told BBC Breakfast: “This is the biggest shake-up to our driving laws for decades, and that’s because this is what the public have been telling us that they want, they want us to be taking action, they feel like the time is right for us to review these laws.”

Actress Jennifer Aniston has opened about Friends co-star Matthew Perry following his death, admitting: “We did everything we could when we could.” Perry was found dead at his home in Los Angeles, aged 54, in 2023. He had died because of the “acute effects of ketamine” and subsequent drowning in his hot tub.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, Aniston added: “It almost felt like we’d been mourning Matthew for a long time because his battle with that disease was a really hard one for him to fight. As hard as it was for all of us and for the fans, there’s a part of me that thinks this is better. I’m glad that he’s out of pain.”

Perry has previously spoken about how his co-star reached out to him at the height of his substance abuse, helping him realise he had a problem. The actor recalled how Aniston, who played Rachel Green, approached him on set telling him: “We know you’re drinking”.

It has been confirmed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have signed a brand new deal

This afternoon, our Royal team broke the news that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have extended their deal with Netflix. The pair have signed a “multi-year, first look deal for film and television projects” through Archewell Productions.

Five years ago, Harry and Meghan secured the lucrative contract, thought to be worth more than 100 million dollars (£74 million), with Netflix after quitting as senior working royals in 2020. Their controversial docuseries, in which they were highly critical of the Royal Family, has been among the streaming platform’s most watched documentary of all time.

However, other projects, such as Harry’s series on Polo, have failed to bring in the same viewers. However, today, both the Duke and Duchess of Sussex along with Netflix, revealed that the partnership will continue and detailed some of the upcoming projects that are set to hit the streaming platform soon.
