Bullying isn’t banter – Badenoch’s PMQs attack on Rachel Reeves crosses a line
Kemi Badenoch has been slammed for her lack of empathy towards Rachel Reeves during Prime Minister’s Questions (PMQs) yesterday, with the Mirror’s Real Britain columnist Ros Wynne Jones stating that the Tory leader had ‘crossed the line’. It comes as Badenoch accused the Chancellor of looking “absolutely miserable” during the debate.
It later emerged Ms Reeves had been upset due to a “personal matter”. Writing in an opinion piece, Ros penned: “There is banter and there is bullying. And at Prime Ministers’ Questions, the Leader of the Opposition, Kemi Badenoch crossed the line. Seeing a Parliamentary colleague – albeit from the Opposition, but a colleague nonetheless – struggling to hold back tears.
“She drove home her point, saying the Chancellor was “toast” and a “human shield” for the Prime Minister’s incompetence. Then she challenged Keir Starmer on whether Reeves will still be in post until the next election. “Will she really?” she laughed.”
Ros continued: “Politics is a brutal business. Just ask Kemi’s predecessor Theresa May, whose own eyes filled with tears as she left Downing Street, her voice breaking on the phrase “the country I love”. But the dehumanisation of our politicians and the toxification of our politics is a problem for all of us – whether online or in the chamber of the House of Commons.”

‘Kate broke royal convention and surprised us all with painful cancer admission’
During a visit to Colchester Hospital yesterday, the Princess of Wales talked candidly about her rollercoaster recovery from cancer treatment, which royal expert Jennie Bond has said was “incredibly refreshing”.
In her first public outing since cancelling an appearance at Royal Ascot, Kate spoke of the pressure of putting on a “brave face” once treatment ends and admitted, “everybody expects you to be better, but that’s not the case at all”. She cautioned that the “very scary, very daunting experience” did not end once treatment was over, with patients needing to take time to find their “new normal”.
And former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told the Mirror how it serves as a stark reminder of everything she has been through since early 2024. She explained: “The Princess has taken us all by surprise again by speaking from the heart in emotional terms about how cancer has changed her life.”
Jennie added: “The Princess has decided to speak frankly and emotionally about all that she has been, and is still, going through. This is a break with royal convention, but her words have a reach and an impact that virtually no other cancer survivor could match. I think it’s incredibly refreshing for us to be told exactly what is going on and how Catherine is feeling.”

Diogo Jota’s heartbreaking promise to three kids before he died in tragic crash
On Thursday morning, Liverpool footballer Diogo Jota tragically passed away at the age of 28, leaving behind his beloved wife, Rute Cardoso and their three young children. The Portuguese striker, who joined the Reds in the summer of 2020 and won the Premier League this year, passed away following a road traffic accident in Zamora, Spain.
His younger brother, Andre, 26, also died in the same accident. Our News team reported that just months before the fatal car accident, which came just weeks after his marriage to Rute, Diogo had made a heartbreaking promise to his family.
Speaking on his club’s YouTube channel, the footballer said: “You want to be the best father you can be. [You] try to lead by example, give him good feedback, even though sometimes you want to get a bit more rest in the afternoon, and they are all happy because you’re finally at home and they want to play. I had this yesterday after the game. I wanted to get a bit of rest. One of my kids wanted to play some football and you need to be on it.”

Oasis announce brand new member as female joins the band for first time
The highly-anticipated Oasis tour will kick off on Friday night at the Principality stadium in Cardiff, and a new female member has joined the line up of musicians hitting the road with the Gallagher brothers.
The initial line up revealed by the Mirror is correct with Liam as the frontman and Noel on guitar alongside close pals and regulars Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs, Gem Archer and Andy Bell. But in the tour programme there is also a list of additional musicians playing with the band and they are; Christian Madden is on keyboards, Jess Greenfield is on backing vocals, Alastair White is on trombone, Steve Hamilton is on saxophone and Joe Auckland will be playing the trumpet.
Jess Greenfield is an integral part of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and a singer/songwriter in her own right, including being in London-based soul ensemble Wonder 45. She is a working mum and has spoken in interviews about balancing homelife with being on the road with bands.

Wimbledon drink prices in full with £8.85 pints and staggering £217 bottle
With Wimbledon back on our screens, many are left wondering just how much a day out in SW19 will cost – especially as prices have reportedly risen since last year.
Those heading to the famous grounds will need deep pockets due to a surge in food and drink prices since 2024, attributed to inflation. A pint of Stella Artois, which cost £7.55 in 2023 and £8.50 in 2024, now comes with a hefty price tag of £8.85. The first pint of the day also carries an additional £1 charge for the reusable cup.
In addition, a Pimms now costs £12.25, up from £11.95 last year. A can of Sipsmith gin and tonic is a staggering £10.20, while one from the bar is £11.05 – 45p more expensive than last year – with a double priced at £15.50.
Non-alcoholic beverage seekers will find that a can of Coke or Sprite costs £2.75, a 250ml bottle of juice is £4.20, and a large 750ml bottle of Evian water is £5, although refills are complimentary, with water fountains readily accessible.
