Liverpool extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table on Thursday night with a 3-1 win at Anfield over Leicester City
Mohamed Salah admits he “dreams” of winning another title with Liverpool after scoring to help them open up a seven-point lead.
Salah sealed Liverpool’s comeback victory with his 100th Premier League home goal and his 19th of his brilliant season. The Egyptian star claims Liverpool must stay “humble”, but concedes he imagines how it would feel to lift a record-equalling 20th league title.
“The most important thing is the team winning, hopefully we win the Premier League,” Salah told Amazon Prime. “It’s great, but we focus on each game and hopefully we carry on like that. “It feels different, but the most important thing is we need to stay humble.
“This one is very special. Hopefully we can win the Premier League and for this club, it’s something I dream of.”
Cody Gakpo’s equaliser in first-half stoppage time was the turning point and Salah says he practises those right-foot curlers in training.
“He scored a great goal,” he said. “It gave us confidence in the second half to go and win the game. It’s something he practises a lot in training. It was a great finish from him.”
Arne Slot refuses to get carried away by Liverpool’s lead in the Premier League title race and was cautious.
“I don’t look at it that way,” said the Reds head coach. “We go game by game and we know how many games we still have to play, especially in the Premier League when you see results and you think ‘I didn’t expect that’. But you can expect this because so many teams have so much quality.
“If this happened in the Eredivisie, I would say ‘OK that is true’, but not this competition.”
