Molly-Mae Hague sounded hurt as she blasted critics and denied split from Tommy Fury was for publicity
Molly-Mae Hague has hit back at critics and denied her Tommy Fury break-up and new documentary are ‘publicity stunts’.
The former Love Island star and influencer has a growing fashion empire Maebe and more than eight million followers on Instagram. She split from long term partner Tommy Fury last year and the mother-of-one will talk about that in-depth during her new Prime series which comes out this week. But on social media dozens of people are claiming she is already back with Tommy and she is doing things to make her new show Molly-Mae: Behind It All interesting and to publicise her business.
But hitting back, Molly said: “I think that for me, above everything, has been the most frustrating part, because I actually say in the documentary, ‘I wish it was a publicity stunt’, because it’d be a lot easier. Because going through all of this with the turmoil of a break-up has been incredibly hard, to have those comments, and I do see the comments, I see all of them.
“People say, ‘oh, this has obviously just been done for long term brand or a publicity stunt’, that is very painful, because it’s real life. Tommy and I have a baby together, and it’s very, very real, and it’s a really hard thing that we’ve both gone through the last six months. I wish it wasn’t, because it would have been a lot easier, but it isn’t.
“I think this documentary will clear up any impressions of that, you see the real side to it, it’s kind of like you’re a fly on the wall. And like I say, I think people are going to be quite, not shocked, but I think they’ll be quite surprised by how honest we’ve been.”
Molly-Mae, 25, went on to say she had “mixed emotions” about the first three parts of the six part series coming out, as she did not have control over the edit.
But she insisted the main reason for signing up was to showcase the launch of her business and to chart her baby Bambi growing up. She turns two later this month.
Molly-Mae said: “I think it just came at the perfect time. I had a lot going on personally and with my businesses. Obviously, I was launching Maebe my fashion brand, and it just felt like a perfect time to open up, really, and let people in, in a way that I haven’t before.
“It wasn’t because of the breakup. It was more so because I knew that it was the start of Maebe’s journey. We actually agreed to do the documentary before Maebe had even a post out.
So it was literally at the very start of the journey. And I have such high hopes and dreams for Maebe being this empire. And I thought, how cool, and maybe would it be if we had it from the start of that Instagram page, having zero followers to hopefully becoming the empire that I hope it will be one day, and that was my main focus and goal behind doing it.”
* Molly-Mae: Behind It All eps 1-3 launch exclusively on Prime Video tomorrow(January 17). The latter three episodes will drop in Spring 2025.
