Molly-Mae Hague’s make-up artist shares ‘perfect base for make-up’ that’s always in her kit

The first few episodes of the second series of Molly-Mae Hague’s BAFTA-winning documentary Molly-Mae: Behind It All are now available to watch on Amazon Prime, giving viewers another glimpse into the recent life of the mum-of-one.

And we also think we’ve found one of her beauty secrets too – a hydrating, plumping moisturiser that Molly’s make-up artist has revealed is always in her professional kit as it’s ‘the perfect base for make-up’. This means that we bet it’s regularly used on the social media star to give her her fresh, luminous skin.

In a sponsored Instagram Reel, Molly’s regular make-up artist Hollie Flynn – who also did the 26 year old’s make-up for the recent L’Oréal catwalk show, as well as her stunning BAFTAs look – shared her four-step ‘current glow routine’ using Tatcha products.

After applying Tatcha’s The Essence, from £63, and The Brightening Serum, from £34, Hollie brings out what she calls “the star of the show”: Tatcha The Dewy Skin Cream, from £26, all of which are available to buy from the Tatcha website itself as well as retailers such as Sephora and Space NK.

“I have used this in my kit of as long as I can remember,” she says. “It is the perfect base for make-up. It leaves my skin looking so supple. If you want plump, hydrated skin, that is the cream for you.” Hollie then finishes by applying a layer of Tatcha The Kissu Lip Mask, £27.

The Dewy Skin Cream is a rich, plumping moisturiser that leaves skin looking and feeling noticeably more hydrated and glowing, making it excellent under foundation if you want your skin to look fresh and healthy. Tatcha’s clinical results also show that it’s proven to reduce the look of dry, fine lines in two weeks.

A modern-day cult classic beauty product, it’s also a favourite with Meghan Markle. Back when the Duchess first launched her Instagram account, she gave fans a glimpse at some of her favourite fashion and beauty products through her ShopMy page, and it included Tatcha’s Dewy Skin Cream.

If those with oily or combination find the original formula a bit too rich, however, this new version is the solution. Tatcha has just launched the Dewy Milk Moisturizer into Space NK, with prices starting from £23. This new skincare product delivers the same much-loved dewy glow in a new, lighter, water-based formula that’s perfect for slightly oilier skin types. Containing zinc, hyaluronic acid and green tea as well as Tatcha’s iconic Japanese purple rice for hydration, Tatcha says this highly-requested new innovation helps to “balance excess oil while delivering 2x more skin bounce and a dewy, youthful-looking glow”.

Another hydrating moisturiser/primer hybrid that Molly has shared her love of in the past is the iconic Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base, from £19. As anther testament to just how popular this product is amongst make-up artists, you’ll also find it inside celebrity MUA Hannah Martin’s 2025 beauty advent calendar, which costs £99 but is worth over £600 and contains this and 29 other top products.
