Morrisons has revealed the exact dates it will be closing 17 of its Morrisons Daily convenience stores. The supermarket chain announced last month that it was going to close 52 of its in-store cafes and 17 of its smaller stores as part of a major overhaul.
Alongside this, Morrisons said it would be closing down a number of its hot food counters, meat counters, fish counters, florists, and pharmacies across its supermarket store estate. Morrisons blamed the move on the government’s hike in employers’ National Insurance alongside the rise to minimum wage this month.
At the time, the supermarket chain did not share which stores would be impacted. However, it has now revealed the full list of 17 convenience stores that will shut. Alongside this, it has shared that all of them will be closing for good this month. All of the stores will be closing next week on Wednesday, April 16. The only exception to this is the Haxby Morrisons Daily store, which will be shut down a month later on May 14.

In a statement, Morrisons said: “Morrisons has made the difficult decision to close some Morrisons Daily stores, some of which contain Post Offices.
“We fully recognise the inconvenience this will cause for our customers and apologise for the short notification as these branches close between 9 April and 14 May. We have reviewed Post Office provision in these areas and for most of these affected branches we are advertising the vacancies.”

Local news reports have suggested the Post Office inside the Shenfield store could be saved. However, this has not been confirmed as of writing.
