Morrisons issue ‘do not’ eat warning over ‘possible health risk’ for Savers item

By staff22 October 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

Customers can return the affected items to Morrisons for a full refund – no receipt is required

Morrisons has shared a crucial alert about one of its products, amid concerns it may pose a ‘possible health risk’ to certain people. Shoppers are now advised to return affected batches to their nearest stores, where they will receive a full refund.

The supermarket’s product recall specifically concerns its own-brand ‘Savers Salad Cream’ with batch codes of ‘L25 122’. Morrisons is concerned these items ‘may contain egg and mustard’, neither of which is mentioned on the label.

In a customer notice, the chain said: “Morrisons is recalling this product with a date code of Best Before End AUG/2026, Batch L25 122, because it may contain egg and mustard that are not declared on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to egg or mustard.”

The alert also added: “No other products are affected by this issue. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and assure customers of our continuing commitment to the highest standard of product quality and safety.”

As highlighted in the notice, this recall affects batches of Savers Salad Cream with best-before dates of August 2026. Further information from the Government’s Food Standards Agency (FSA) also adds that affected bottles are 420g in size.

In an explanation of product recalls, the FSA said: “Sometimes there will be a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold. Then it might be ‘withdrawn’ (taken off the shelves) or ‘recalled’ (when customers are asked to return the product).

“Sometimes foods have to be withdrawn or recalled if there is a risk to consumers because the allergy labelling is missing or incorrect or if there is any other food allergy risk. When there is a food allergy risk, the FSA will issue an Allergy Alert.”

Regarding Morrisons specifically, it added: “If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to any Morrisons store for a full refund. No receipt is required. For further enquiries, please contact Morrisons Customer Services on 0345 611 6111.”

In other news, M&S is also recalling a particular batch of ‘Milk Chocolate Honeycomb’ due to concerns it might contain peanuts, which are not listed on the label. Packs weighing 120g, displaying a lot number of ‘5242’ and best-before dates of May 12, 2026, are affected by this.

A notice from M&S reads: “Customer safety is of paramount importance to Marks & Spencer and we take all issues regarding the production of our foods extremely seriously. In the abundance of caution Marks & Spencer is recalling Milk Chocolate Honeycomb due to the possible presence of undeclared peanuts in a small number of packs.”

Anyone with peanut allergies or intolerances should avoid these products. Customers can return them to any M&S store to receive a full refund.

A notice from the FSA adds: “Marks & Spencer is recalling the above product from customers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.

“The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.”
