Morrisons has adjusted its supermarket opening hours to take into account the New Year’s Day bank holiday, which falls on Wednesday next week
Whether you’re going out or staying in this New Year, chances are you’ll need to visit the supermarket at some point next week.
Morrisons has adjusted its opening hours to take into account the New Year’s Day bank holiday, which falls on Wednesday next week. You’ll also find shopping hours have been adjusted slightly on New Year’s Eve so staff can go out and celebrate.
Morrisons has almost 500 supermarkets and around 1,600 Morrisons Daily convenience stores. The majority of larger Morrisons supermarkets open at 7am and close at either 9pm or 10pm, Monday to Saturday. When we checked several stores today, opening times had been adjusted to 7am until 7pm on New Year’s Eve, then from 9am until 6pm on New Year’s Day.
For smaller Morrisons Daily stores, these are typically open from 6am or 7am, and then they close at 10pm. We found the stores we checked are open from 7am until 10pm on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Normal shopping hours resume on January 2.
It comes after Morrisons customers were left furious after their Christmas orders were cancelled and others weren’t able to claim discounts on their shop earlier this week. On the Morrisons Facebook page, people commented that Christmas deliveries they ordered a month ago have been cancelled.
One person said: “Half my Christmas shopping isn’t coming including the turkey and puddings and they were ordered a month ago.” Another shopper said they were informed that their click and collect order would not be available just 30 minutes before they were set to pick it up. They said on X: “I’ve got a 9am click/collect slot, been booked for weeks. Just got an email 30 mins before, to say WiFi is down so cannot go and collect yet.”
In response to the tech issues, Morrisons applied some loyalty discounts to all customers – even if they’re not members of its More Card scheme. More Card customers also got an extra 10% off their entire shop “as an apology”. Both measures were in place until Tuesday.
