Morrisons shopper ‘felt queasy’ after looking inside £2 Too Good To Go bag

By staff14 October 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

One woman who decided to treat herself to a surprise bag from the Morrisons cafe ended up feeling sick at the looks of one item which was lurking in the bottom…

One shopper believed she secured a brilliant deal when she snagged a massive food bag for just over £2 through Too Good To Go. While rummaging through her haul from the local Morrisons café, you’d naturally anticipate discovering some leftover pastries or perhaps a sandwich or two.

However, rather than a delicate brunch selection, she found herself confronted by a plastic bag containing mysterious meat – with the item appearing so peculiar it made her feel rather sick. The customer, Becky Chorlton, documented her experience on Instagram following the unboxing of her café mystery bag.

Initially, she was delighted to discover two sealed containers within. Yet possibly anticipating a croissant upon opening the first box, she was evidently shocked to encounter a portion of bagged chicken tikka masala alongside some rice.

Her enthusiasm swiftly transformed into bewilderment. “Oh my God, what is that?” she exclaimed in the footage.

“That’s so weird, oh my God. So it looks like we’ve got chicken tikka and two of whatever that thing [the meat] is.”

Contained inside was what appeared to be a chunk of dark, compact meat encased in plastic, with some liquid pooled around it.

The meat could potentially be some form of burger or meatloaf. Nevertheless, as she opened and delved into the second container, the contents were far more recognisable, featuring a pile of sausages, hash browns, and black pudding, which they both acknowledged made the entire bag worthwhile, considering the £2.50 cost.

Gesturing towards the cooked breakfast, she remarked: “That’s good. I’m not sure about the other thing, that kind of gives me the heebie jeebies.”

The To The Too Good To Go app has seen a surge in popularity in recent years, lauded for its innovative approach to combating food waste. The premise is straightforward: restaurants, bakeries, and supermarkets sell off unsold food nearing its sell-by date at a significant discount, allowing customers to grab “surprise bags” for just a few quid, a fraction of the original price.

Morrisons utilises the app to shift surplus food from both its main store and cafe. Following the release of the video, the store was alerted to the bag.

A spokesperson for Morrisons commented: “We acknowledge that the bag did not come as it should have done, and as we always want to ensure the best customer experience, we are working with our Cafés individually to ensure that it doesn’t happen in future.”

Despite the mountain of hash browns, Becky still seemed pleased with her haul. In the caption, she added: “Seeing warm food in a bag gives me the heebie jeebies, but I definitely think this was worth a couple of quid.

“I’m super grateful for this cheap food; however, I am entitled to an opinion on what freaks me out a little.

“I have worked with Too Good To Go and spoken with the owners of the company. These bags are designed to prevent food waste. Anyone can purchase these bags regardless of their income levels.”

You never know what you’ll get, that’s part of the fun, but usually, the contents are worth three or four times the price you pay. For budget-conscious shoppers, it’s a no-brainer. For shoppers and those eager to reduce waste, it’s a double victory.
