Moths will stay away from your clothes if you use 40p item in wardrobe

With spring finally upon us, many homes will be getting into their spring cleaning and switching out heavy woollen jumpers for lighter layers

As the mercury climbs and summer looms, thousands of households are diving into spring cleaning, swapping out chunky woolly jumpers for breezier attire. But what’s to stop your stowed away knitwear from falling victim to pesky moths?

Moths thrive in the warmth, with their activity peaking around April and May, putting your cherished sweaters at risk of becoming riddled with holes. Chris Hutton, a storage guru from Adams SelfStore, offers a brilliantly straightforward and cost-effective trick that not only protects your clothes but leaves them better off.

Chris warns: “Moth larvae don’t hibernate; they hatch as soon as the conditions are right. With spring’s early warmth, your cupboards, drawers, and even those forgotten spots under the sofa become prime breeding grounds for moths.”

But fear not, Chris has a fragrant and wallet-friendly solution up his sleeve, reports the Express.

He advises: “While we might find lavender’s scent calming and pleasant, moths find it repellent. All you need to do is place a sachet where moths are likely to hide, wardrobes, drawers, or anywhere they can make a home. Once they catch a whiff of the lavender, they’ll make themselves scarce. Simple as that.”

Lavender sachets are a steal online at roughly £2.90 each, but if you’re feeling crafty, you can DIY with a 50g bag of lavender for just £2 online. You’ll only need 10g per pouch, which means you can create your own moth-repelling sachets for a mere 40p each!

Chris warned of the dangers posed by tiny moths, suggesting a simple solution: “Moths might be small, but they can cause big problems. A few pence invested in lavender sachets could save you a lot of time and money in the long run.”

He also highlighted additional advantages for your household, adding: “Not only does lavender work to repel moths, but it also leaves your home smelling fresh and inviting. It’s a natural scent that can create a soothing atmosphere throughout your home.”
