Motorists could have new way to ‘beat the traffic wardens’ with trick to avoid fines

By staff22 September 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

The conversation sparked by the viral video shows just how many UK drivers struggle with the convoluted systems currently in place when it comes to managing charges, fines and tickets

If you’ve ever returned to your car to be met with a bright yellow parking ticket, a viral TikTok video claims to have the answer to “fixing car fines” for good.

It was shared by content creator @decentraldola, who also goes by Dola. The clip highlights the frustration drivers feel over the endless bureaucracies and costs that come with legally keeping your car on the road in the UK.

At the start of the video, the cameraman turns it on his friend’s car, where a parking ticket has just been issued. In disbelief, he asks: “Yo, how did bro get a ticket? We’ve literally been here for like five minutes?”

Dola takes the opportunity to explain why the system feels so stacked against motorists. He points at the ticket and explains: “This is just one of the 10 ways that the UK treats car drivers — parking fines, congestion charge, Dartford Crossing, road tax, MOT, insurance, car service, speeding tickets. And they’re all different places, different logins and different deadlines.”

The cameraman then asks the obvious question: “Yo bro, how much is that?” Dola answers bluntly: “It’s £80, but in two weeks it doubles. It’s like they’re doing it on purpose. It’s like they want you to forget something so they can double the price.”

Seemingly offering a solution, he says: “So, let’s fix this: I’m making one website for everything — links to all the sites plus reminders straight to your phone or email so you know exactly when anything is due. So if you get a parking ticket put it in here [he points to his laptop] before it doubles, then you’ll get a notification to pay for it.

“It might even include some example prompts to help you appeal those unlawful parking tickets, because you’ve got enough to worry about already. No need to be having nightmares about driving in the UK.”

The vision is clear — a centralised hub bringing together the fragmented world of car charges and fines, helping drivers keep track of payments and even challenge penalties that might not have been fairly issued. It’s a simple but striking solution, particularly as official portals operate independently more often than not.

However, while the idea of finally “beating the traffic wardens” and putting late charges to bed once and for all sounds appealing, users in the comments were quick to ask if the platform was up and running. One asked: “Is it available now or still under development?” To Which Dola responded honestly, explaining it is still a work in progress.

For now, his TikTok serves as both a critique of the fractured and system of motoring charges in the UK, as well as a teaser for a useful hub designed to ease the burden of managing charges, fines and tickets. Whether it comes to fruition or not, the conversation it sparked shows just how many drivers struggle with the convoluted systems currently in place.

With the promise of streamlined alerts and guides on contesting unfair fines, the concept would be welcomed with open arms by the majority of Brit motorists.
