Sophie Hinchliffe, better known as Mrs Hinch, has left fans stunned after using a ‘hidden’ toilet seat button in a recent Instagram video, which makes cleaning so much easier
Cleaning your loo just got a whole lot simpler, thanks to a “hidden” button that many may not be aware of.
Mrs Hinch, the cleaning sensation also known as Sophie Hinchliffe, has been inspiring her followers to get their homes in tip-top shape and sharing lesser-known tips. In a ‘Sunday reset’ clip, she wowed fans by pressing an obscure button to detach her toilet seat for a thorough clean in the shower, leaving her fans utterly astonished.
“I’ve never thought to clean the toilet seat like that, amazing!”, exclaimed one impressed follower in the comments section. But what’s the secret behind this cleaning marvel?
Keeping your toilet seat pristine is crucial for keeping germs and unsightly marks at bay. Nancy Emery, a bathroom and cleaning guru from Drench, emphasises the importance of scrubbing the bathroom, particularly the toilet, due to the potential build-up of grime and bacteria.
Nancy then disclosed how to locate the elusive “hidden” button, which is found on most contemporary toilets. She pointed out that the button is “at the centre of the toilet seat when you lift the lid and seat.” For those in the dark, it’s known as a “quick-release hinge”, and by simply pressing it, you can “lift the toilet seat off really easily.”
Then, just like Mrs Hinch in her reset video, give the toilet seat a thorough deep clean – you can even take it into the shower. “You can then give the seat a deep clean and have access to areas on the bowl you can’t reach with the seat still attached – ultimately giving you a much more hygienic and efficient clean”, Nancy said.
If your toilet doesn’t have a hidden button, don’t worry – you’ll likely need a screwdriver to remove the seat, but it’s worth it for a deep clean. Nancy recommends doing this “at least once a month in addition to your daily and weekly cleaning.”
