A mum was left mortified after an awkward moment with a delivery driver was caught on a Ring doorbell.
The hilarious moment marked an embarrassing encounter between Georgia Bennett-Smith’s mother and the postie. Ring cameras detect motion at your front door and record visitors at the front of your home. But it seems Georgia has used the camera to pinpoint the interaction between her mum and a food delivery man.
Georgia says her mum had been drinking wine before the food arrived, which may have factored in to the heart-warming interaction seen on the Ring camera. The exchange occurred outside their home in Stoke-on-Trent on Sunday, December 15.
The man dropped off their grub before she said: “Ah thank you, have a lovely Christmas.” The delivery driver then replied: “Yeah. Thank you.” But Georgia added: “Love you, ahh.” Her embarrassing addition stunned the driver, as did her follow-up action when she kissed him farewell.
She then gave him a kiss on each cheek on the doorstep and he said: “Merry Christmas.” Her mum added: “Happy New Year. See you soon, bye bye.” Georgia has since joked about her mum being a “couple of wines” deep at that point in the evening. The delivery driver who received the festive peck on the cheek had arrived at around 8.40pm.
Georgia added: “When mum’s had a couple of wines and tells the delivery drivers loves him.” Friends of the family were split on the moment, with What’s the Jam reporting a mixture of responses. Some said the encounter was sweet while others watched through gritted teeth and felt the scenes seen on the Ring camera were embarrassing.
Carleen White said: “Why not spread love not hate.” Kacey added: “That’s actually so sweet though.” Tami joked: “And from here on…mum never drinks again.”
Another quipped: “I’d never order food again. This moment would haunt my brain.” Rae admitted: “I said ‘night night’ to the delivery driver the other day. Mortified.” It is not the only festive hilarity captured on Ring cameras, with the mortifying moment a man slipped on the ice and snow going viral last year.
The footage, which The Mirror previously shared, left people in stitches after they watched Wayne Probert, 51, slip and fall into a nearby fence.
Ring doorbells are a great way for homeowners to keep their properties secure by seeing who is approaching their house, as well as speaking to people at the door when they aren’t in. They are also a fantastic addition to any home wanting to capture the awkward encounters and accidental slips from visiting friends or family members returning home.
