A mum’s innocent social media post praising a thoughtful party planner has sparked debate as some parents can’t get onboard with the concept. Others think it’s a lovely thing to do
A fierce debate has erupted online after a mum posted a photo of an ‘individual lunch box’ that was made for her son at a birthday bash.
The mother of the vegan child took to social media to praise the other parent for how considerate they’d been, sharing that she was happy her son wasn’t left out at the party.
She penned: “My son is at a birthday party and look at this cute individual lunch box they made up for him. I said I was happy to bring everything but look”, and she posted a picture of the food which contained a ‘chicken’ sandwich, mini ‘no’ eggs, sweet potato falafel bites, and a vegan Kit Kat.
In the comments of the mum’s post, other parents felt divided. Some people said that they “loved that for him”, saying that they’d love to try those treats, despite the fact they’re not vegan themselves.
Another person said that “everyone deserves to enjoy a party”, saying: “I always used to do this for my kid’s parties.. and as a cake maker I also always made sure there was a vegan/gluten-free option for cake too”, so all the children can enjoy it.
The party organiser was also referred to as “lovely” and “considerate” for the effort they went to, despite the fact the mum offered to take her son’s food, knowing it would be a faff for her.
But some people took the post as an opportunity to criticise the mum, accusing the mother of “traumatising” her son.
Another bizzarely suggested that the kid should be fed beef, and then they’d “grow.” But one fuming mum wrote: “My daughter has a dairy allergy and if she got a pack up like this it would be classed as vegan. It’s not a choice, it’s a health need.”
Others simply said it was “amazing”, “wonderful, and so inclusive”, and some added that the kid’s friends were “lovely and thoughtful” for considering their dietary needs.
