‘My co-worker’s baby name choice sounds like a cheese and I thought it was joke’

By staff14 September 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

When a woman shared her co-workers baby names, people were left mortified, wondering whether they were being serious – and many were saying the same thing about one

A woman was left mortified after realising what her co-worker had named her children, with some saying one of the monikers looked like a cheese. Naming your baby is something that you, and they, will have to live with for the rest of your lives, so it’s not a task to be taken lightly.

With some parents opting for more traditional monikers like Joseph, or Annabelle, others may choose to push the boat out and name their children something totally outlandish. It’s important to do what feels most authentic for you and your partner, and what you think will make your child stand out in all the right ways.

However, when one woman shared the names of her babies, people were left gobsmacked at what she’d opted for.

Someone screenshotted a social media profile and shared the names of their “coworker’s children,” leaving some wondering whether they were real.

The names shared on Reddit were Demerita Rose, Mozzella Karyn, May Fluoren, and Articus Colornio.

But when people read them, they couldn’t get one thing out of their mind – and it was how cheesy the second name sounded.

“I cannot see anything but mozzarella,” someone joked. Another added: “Same. Plus I read Flouride for Flouren.”

A woman penned: “Dementia, Mozzarella, Flouride and Cornholio. You can’t convince me that’s not really what she meant to name her children.”

Somebody else shared: “I thought Mozzella was mozzarella, too. I have a migraine, though.”

One man said: “May Flouren sounds like a chemical cleanser and Articus Colornio? Seriously, that’s a joke name from a children’s book or some 1850s snake oil salesman – or possibly a rare and debilitating disease.”

“Once, I met someone who named their kid Brielle. All I could think about was brie and that this was some sort of processed cheese spread made, brie-flavoured,” somebody joked, saying that Mozella wasn’t the only cheese-sounding name.

“Why did you do that to your children?” a Redditor seethed.

This mum isn’t the only person who has been criticised for her baby name choice.

Another parent was penalised on Reddit for her child’s moniker. One woman shared a name her friend’s family member used, saying it “takes the cake,” posting it on Reddit’s baby name forum for quirky monikers.

“Years ago, a friend of mine told me her cousin was having a baby boy,” she penned, quickly asking whether they had any names in mind for their bundle of joy.

“She replied yes, he’ll be named after his father, James. Easy enough, right?” But she was so wrong.

Often, when a boy is named after their father, they will go by ‘Junior’ to mark the significance of being named the same thing as their dad.

So James Junior would have worked, and the boy could’ve potentially gone by JJ to friends – a commonly used name.

But the woman had other ideas for the name of her little one.

“Until she added: She’s naming him Semaj. Yep you guessed it JAMES spelled backwards,” she wrote, explaining this was in 1997, so the name Semaj was not frequently used.

What’s the worst baby name you’ve ever seen? Let us know in the comments…
