A couple have defended their relationship despite not having the same sexual preferences and have had to hit back on cruel trolls commenting on their marriage decision
Despite knowing her partner was gay, one woman still married her boyfriend as she believes they are soulmates. Samantha Greenstone and Josh Hoff were legally married and even though Josh is not attracted to women, the pair still have sex.
The couple met nine years ago just as friends, but Samantha realised she was developing feelings for Josh, and he told her he felt the same way. But even though they started dating, they shared how they were in a “mixed-orientation” relationship which means they have different sexual orientations. The LA-based couple cemented their relationship in a courthouse where they tied the knot, and said it was “so exciting”.

Taking to TikTok, Samantha beamed ahead of their wedding: “I’m marrying a gay man. And we’re literally at the courthouse right now. We’ve just obtained our marriage license and it’s so exciting.” However many people have assumed it’s a “lavender marriage” which is a LGBTQ+ term which describes when one or two people marry for the safety or convenience of appearing to be heterosexual.
The pair deny this is the case, and Josh told Business Insider: “I’m 100% fulfilled by our marriage. So to say we’re in a ‘lavender marriage,’ I think, takes away what this really is, which is just people who love each other for who they are and not what they are. A lavender marriage feels like a marriage of convenience versus a marriage of just true pure love like ours.”
In another TikTok, Samantha gave the low down of their sex life after being questioned on it. She said: “We do it the good old-fashioned way. Yep. And if you’re confused what that means, then it’s not our job to teach you the birds and the bees.

“I know it’s mind-bending to a lot of you to be like, well, he’s gay. How could he be sleeping with a woman?” And Josh said Samantha isn’t just a woman, it’s his wife and “my soulmate and my partner”. The clip posted to her TikTok account @samanthawynngreenstone has gone viral, racking up millions of views, but has left viewers confused by the pair’s relationship.
One TikToker asked: “What is the purpose of this marriage? I don’t understand why? I know from the beginning there is something weird every each video he advertised Samantha account. I didn’t see you before a straight husband highly supporting his wife like this.”
While another wrote: “Lavender marriage in a country that allows gay marriage and law benefits with that is just…pointless???” But others were in full support of the happy couple as one fan chimed: “Congratulations to you both! I hope you will be very happy, you sure look it today. Lavender marriages are my new favourite thing!”
