A woman has shared the story of her dog that has a number of unusual personality traits and has left people floored by the mix of breeds she is as people can’t believe it
A woman has sparked debate online after sharing the tale of her peculiar-looking pooch, challenging viewers to guess what mixture of breeds she might be.
If you’ve ever gone into a dog shelter, you might have noticed that many of the dogs up for adoption are mixed breeds, as they’re often viewed as less ‘desirable’ or less valuable by certain dog owners. However, one woman decided to take a punt on a foster pup with behavioural problems, who quickly earned a permanent place in her family. The dog owner, called Alex, has now posted a clip on TikTok as she challenged people to work out what sort of breed combination the dog named Ember was, whilst detailing her bizarre personality quirks that complement her ‘strange’ appearance.
“One of my dogs doesn’t look like a dog,” Alex revealed at the beginning of one of her videos, explaining that instead, the canine in question resembles a child’s sketch of a dog drawn from memory that has then come alive.
She continued to describe some odd characteristics about her dog, Ember, that align with her unusual looks, including mastering the ability to vomit on cue. Alex then revealed the dog was scheduled to be euthanised as a puppy due to her poor behaviour.
“They asked me to take her,” Alex explained. “She was about, I think, 12-14 weeks, extremely fearful, would bite anything and everything.
She continued to explain that Ember had been through a series of foster homes, but no one seemed willing to take her on. Alex and her family stepped in, fostering Ember for a year before deciding to keep her as they couldn’t find a suitable home that could cater to her needs.
Alex also shared some of Ember’s peculiar habits, such as howling with her own poo in her mouth, and counting the steps when someone ascends the stairs, and only following them once she’s certain they’ve reached the top.
“So just know, when you look at her, that’s also what’s inside of her noggin. Please enjoy this random thing that somebody decided to breed,” Alex quipped, showing off a photo of her all-black dog, whose legs were half her height, with a tiny waist and a tongue lolling out the side of her mouth.
Alex then challenged her viewers to guess Ember’s breed, promising to reveal the answer a few days later. While many guessed breeds like Border Collie, Italian Greyhound, and Chihuahua, Alex revealed that all these guesses were incorrect.
In a second video, Alex went on to share that she’d conducted a DNA test on Ember, which unveiled a surprising mix of breeds. Starting from the least dominant, Alex revealed that Ember is 2% Samoyed, 2% English Springer Spaniel, 3% Labrador Retriever, 6% Chow Chow, and 8% German Shepherd.
“I didn’t see anyone guess this one, it may have gotten lost, but we do have 11% of American Eskimo,” she disclosed, before adding that Ember was also 12% Siberian Husky, and 22% Doberman.
“Her top breed, that only a few people guessed, 34% Brittany,” Alex revealed.
People were gobsmacked by what they were hearing, with many expressing their astonishment in the comments section.
“What breed is she? Yes lol,” one individual quipped, while another person penned: “A BRITTANY??! I would’ve never guessed that!”
Another shared: “Genetics are crazy because my dog is almost 40% Chihuahua but weighs 30lbs lol. “.
