‘My sister wanted to wear wedding dress on my big day so I got brutal revenge’

A woman has shared how her ‘entitled’ sister wore a wedding dress on her big day – so she and her husband came up with a plan to make sure they got the last laugh

A bride-to-be has shared her unique approach to wedding planning after her ‘favourite’ sister demanded to walk down the aisle first in a big white dress. In a Reddit post, she detailed how her sibling had always been the golden child in their parents’ eyes, while her own achievements were often overlooked or even punished.

She claimed her sister would undermine her at every turn, even going as far as to isolate her from friends, ruin her romantic relationships, and prevent her from attending her top-choice university. Despite warning her fiancé about her family’s favouritism, he was eager to see it for himself when meeting them for the first time.

She explained: “You know those people that say that ‘If I was in X situation, I’d have done something’? My husband is the type that really does. I’m the person who is meek and a doormat in any situation and then can’t sleep at night wishing I had done something, had thought of something witty to say, etc. I’m the person that can’t help but cry when I’m angry.

“My husband is the guy who claps back immediately. He loves drama, in that he loves to resolve it. He’s the guy that if he doesn’t immediately reply to a slight, you better start worrying because he won’t forgive and forget, he’s just stewing something worse for revenge.”

She says people were “baffled” when they got together as their personalities didn’t seem to match up. She added: “Just because I was incapable (thanks to my upbringing probably) of acting like him, it didn’t mean I didn’t like it. I love that my husband does what I can’t. And he treats people well as long as they do the same to him.”

Minutes after meeting her fiancé for the first time, her parents started discussing their upcoming wedding day and started to make their demands. Knowing they’d likely ‘put their foot in it’, she left the room and left her fiancé with her parents to make the arrangements.

“After some grumbling about not being okay with him, my judgment, etc, they proclaimed they were willing to pay for my wedding… on one condition. My sister would walk down the aisle on my wedding first in a wedding dress.

“Their excuse was that it wasn’t okay for a younger sister to marry first, so it was only fair if my sister at least experienced it at my venue with pictures being taken, and the dress and she’d have a cake later too.”

Knowing this would only work out in their favour, her fiancé agreed to this request. For months, he played the role of a secret operative, arranging the most extravagant cakes, blooms, and gowns.

Her mum and dad were supporting it all because they were determined to ensure their eldest daughter’s brief stroll down the aisle to her brother-in-law would be flawless.

When the wedding day arrived, the pair escalated their scheme and devised a strategy to humiliate them before all their invited guests.

She said: “My sister did arrive in a wedding dress. The security refused to let her in. Per our agreement, he claimed she must be in the wrong venue because there was already a bride. My dad went there and tried threatening him with police, claiming he never heard of him, so he couldn’t be working there.

“All my parents could do now was damage control as everyone that learned about it was aghast they’d try and pull it and were screaming and berating them. The three naturally threw my husband under the bus. At this point, my husband was summoned. When he came over he put on his best look of confusion and denied, denied, denied.”

The pair revealed how they proceeded to enjoy their big day without her mum, dad and sibling – whilst enjoying the celebration they had paid for.

Meanwhile, her sister was seen “scream crying on the floor kicking her legs like a kid” outside the venue. Stunned by the couple’s audacious move, social media users applauded them for standing their ground and teaching the parents a lesson.

One user exclaimed: “That was epic! I love it! Give your hubby a kiss from an internet stranger. He did a great job!” Another chimed in: “This would make an amazing movie.”
