Peter Windsor has appeared at Birmingham Crown Court as he denies stalking TV presenter and singer Myleene Klass as well as her colleague Katie Breathwick
Myleene Klass was allegedly sent items with “sexual overtones” including a Catwoman outfit that left her fearing for her safety, a court heard. The TV star and singer, 47, was allegedly sent a note calling her a “naughty vixen”.
Peter Windsor, 61, appeared in court today where he denied stalking Myleene. He also denied a second allegation of stalking her colleague, Classic FM radio presenter Katie Breathwick.
It has been alleged Windsor caused both women “serious alarm or distress” by sending items through the post. He allegedly sent letters to Katie’s workplace that included a pair of binoculars, running trainers, a bottle of Champagne and a stamp collection between March 2020 and December 2023.
Windsor is alleged to have sent unwanted letters, fancy dress outfits, shoes and jewellery to Myleene between November 2023 and August 2024. A jury of 10 men and two women were sworn into Birmingham Crown Court on Monday.
They were warned by judge Tom Rochford not to conduct their own online research into any details about the “well-known” complainants. The judge said they would hear evidence from psychiatrists during the trial.
He told the court: “The defendant says he was insane at the time,” while he spoke of the possibility of a not guilty verdict by reason of insanity. Prosecution barrister Timothy Sapwell said: “It caused her distress.
“She was worried about what the defendant might do to her or her family as a result of the obsessive interest in her.” When opening the case, Mr Sapwell said: “The defendant became obsessed with those two presenters and what he did was send them a large number of letters and parcels.
“It was a very large number of letters and parcels and the content was bizarre. It demonstrated his obsessive interest in them, with some sexual overtones too.
“The things that were sent include things like a police outfit and catwoman outfit.” He told the court it “caused those two women to be alarmed and distressed”, adding that they were worried about going to work.
Mr Sapwell told the court Windsor suffers from schizophrenia. The court heard how Myleene’s management would sort through her fan mail rather than her, but in August last year they told the presenter about concerns for her safety.
They raised concern after a number of items arrived and were reported to the police. Officers intercepted another parcel before it got to Myleene that allegedly contained an air pistol and a note calling her a “naughty vixen, inviting her to correct the defendant with a cane”.
Police arrested Windsor at his home in Birmingham. A court heard that they allegedly found maps of London, a pair of black leather gloves, stockings and binoculars. Mr Sapwell said that Windsor had sent items to Myleene Klass, including a silver ring, a necklace and a heart-shaped pendant, “as a joke” after seeing a picture of her in a newspaper.
“He said he thought he had been reported to the police because she was being blackmailed by the cost of living in London,” Mr Sapwell said. “She didn’t want any publicity about this. She just wanted it to stop.”
Windsor denies two counts of stalking, the trial continues.
