Mystery continues to surround the deaths of an influencer and her teenage daughter in Rio de Janeiro.
Lidiane Lorenço, 33, and her 15-year-old daughter Miana Sophya were found dead in their apartment in Barra da Tijuca, in the southwest of the city, on October 10. Authorities reportedly discovered Lidiane in one of the bedrooms, while Miana was found in the living room. There were no signs of violence on their bodies, Brazilian media reported at the time, citing the local police department, 16th DP.
The family’s lawyer said the forensic examination conducted on Friday has raised “more questions” than answers about the case.

According to G1, lawyer Rodrigo Moulin said: “(The forensic examination) actually raises more questions, because the police are cautious. They don’t want to rule anything out. This examination definitely brings up more issues for the case.”
After three hours of forensic work, Moulin said the only certainty is that the apartment’s gas installations were irregular. “The heater is installed in a completely irregular manner and the gas outlet from the chimney is inside the apartment itself.”
He added: “The police aren’t ruling out any hypotheses yet. Other possibilities have been raised, such as food-related causes, so we have to wait for the forensic results. It’s still inconclusive.”
Lidiane had moved to Rio a few years ago, where she was studying medicine and worked as a model and social media influencer. Miana had relocated from São Paulo, where she had previously attended the EEB Irmã Irene school, to live with her mother in Rio.
Shortly after their bodies were found, local police told G1: “A forensic examination was conducted at the scene and found no evidence of assault.”
Moulin said the death certificate will be crucial in determining how the mother and daughter died, given their underlying health conditions. Lidiane had thrombophilia, which can cause blood clots, while Miana had hemophilia, which made it difficult for her blood to clot, G1 reports.
“There was a suspicion that the younger one may have died first due to her body being in a more advanced state of decomposition than Lidiane’s,” the lawyer added.
