Nando’s has announced a major shake-up to its menu and is adding four new items for summer this year. The peri-peri chicken chain will launch the new items across its menus nationwide from May 13.

The first new menu item is a veggie option called “The Big Cheese.” The new burger features grilled halloumi, red pepper and pineapple salsa, sliced avocado, and Churrasco PERinaise. It will be served in a soft Portuguese roll made with Wildfarmed regenerative flour. The burger will cost you £9.25 on its own or £15.50 with sides.

There are two new side dishes for fans to try, and these are Nando’s “Summer Grains” and its “Charred corn”. The first dish features mixed grains with green chickpeas and dried apricots in lemon and oil, drizzled with a yoghurt dressing. This dish will set you back £4.25.

For the second, customers can get charred smoky sweetcorn in a creamy, garlic sauce topped with spring onions and PERi-Salt for £5. The peri peri restaurant has also introduced a brand new dip, which it says will be loved by fans of its Halloumi Sticks.

The new dip is PERI-honey, which peri-peri fans can also get as an extra to pour over their chicken and drizzle over salads and chips. The Halloumi Sticks & Dip with PERi-Honey will cost £4.95, and the dip on its own will set you back £1.25.

Finally, Nando’s has added a new drink called the “Tropical Quencher” which the chain says is the “ultimate summer slurp”. The drink will set you back £4.25 at Nando’s restaurants.

In addition to the new menu items, Nando’s is also offering fans the chance to have a guest spice return to the menu this summer. If fans have a burning idea, they can also pitch a new spice flavour to the chicken shop chain.

Some of Nando’s older spice flavours included smoked Chorrasco, Garlic BBQ, and, most recently Nando’s x Fanta.

Fans can vote from Tuesday, May 13 until Tuesday, June 17 using the QR code on the in-restaurant menu or heading to its website here. After voting closes, the winning spice will launch on the PERi-ometer in all UK & Ireland restaurants just in time for the summer.

The updated menu follows the recent launch of Nando’s Extra Saucy Wings, which is now served with PERi-Flamer. This was previously an off-menu sauce that had circulated among loyal fans online. PERi-Flamer is now formally available in restaurants and through delivery.
