A celebrity makeup artist (MUA) who travels the globe painting famous faces such as Natalie Portman and Keira Knightley says there’s one product she takes ‘on every job’. The LYMA Laser effectively treats signs of ageing, such as wrinkles, pigmentation, sagging, and a lacklustre complexion.

The actors’ MUA, Romy Soleimani, says: “I take it on every single job with me because it’s so easy to travel with.” The clinical-grade cold laser device is also loved by other A-listers, including the likes of Sienna Miller, Kate Beckinsale, Cynthia Erivo and Dita Von Teese.

LYMA Laser’s lens has been specifically designed for optimal use on the face, neck and targeted areas of concern, such as knees. It is painless to use, and costs £1,999.

The laser promises to speed up the rejuvenation process by ‘switching back on’ the cells responsible for collagen and elastin synthesis, and increasing energy reserves devoted to detoxification and hydration. The supercharged skin cells are then able to regenerate at a much faster rate resulting in firmer, brighter, younger-looking skin.

LYMA also sells a Pro version retailing at £4,995. There are alternatives on the market, for instance, this LED Face Mask Series 2 from CurrentBody is a market leader at £399.

The LED face mask uses red light therapy to boost collagen production for younger-looking skin. It promises to reduce wrinkles by 30% and improve plumpness by 57%.

Similarly, BeautyPro offers portable-friendly beauty devices, including its LED Wand Device (£79). The lightweight, LED light device is designed to visibly smooth and firm the look of skin by emitting red light therapy.

Returning to LYMA’s Laser, brand founder Lucy Goff commented: “The original version of the LYMA Laser’s technology was a gigantic floor-standing machine. Over 120 iterations, we got it down to a portable, painless – and yet incredibly powerful – little device. It’s light, and easy to use when at home or on the move, because travel is integral to so many lives.

“That’s why it’s also safe for hand luggage. It truly is the only device you need, and it fits perfectly into whatever routine you already have, whether at home on the sofa or while travelling.”

LYMA’s Laser has 150 customer reviews. One shopper rated it five stars, saying: “Though I haven’t finished the full three months, I am seeing positive results on my 71-year-old skin. Nice smooth texture, lessening of fine lines, and maybe some reductions in my deep wrinkles. I have trouble doing it every day, but I do it 5-6 times a week.”

They added: “Must say, I do find the treatment very relaxing, and it is something I look forward to doing. I am planning to splurge on the Pro version – cutting the treatment time will help me be more consistent. Thanks for a great product and very responsive customer service.”

A second wasn’t as pleased with the results, writing: “I’m having mixed feelings about this product I do like the laser but for what my reason for it I not sure if it is helping [and] it is a commitment.”

Another said: “I love it. I am in control of my skin.” A fourth commented: “We dermatologists are not big fans of at-home devices. In general we think that clinic based treatments will give faster and dramatic outcomes. I bought this device anyway to treat myself for Christmas. I already had good skin but I was starting to notice sagging skin and signs of ageing.

“After two months o fuse (which could have been more consistent but Christmas and holidays happened) I am surprised by the results… my jawline is prominent, skin is more even-toned, overall I feel more confident (certain changes even I can’t pinpoint). I am so pleased I took the risk and bought it. Definitely be recommending to my right set of patients.”

A fifth concluded: “Takes commitment, but I am two weeks in and people are already commenting on the luminosity of my skin.”
