New Look’s £33 suede-look loafers are ‘so comfy’ people are walking 100k steps in them

By staff27 February 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

One shopper said: “They look sooo good and they’re so comfortable you can go on long trips where you have to walk for miles and hours.”

The viral M&S suede loafers may have flown off the shelves, but don’t fret – we’ve uncovered a gem of a find at New Look that won’t break the bank. Priced at £32.99, these Black Suedette Chunky Loafers a gorgeous alternative to the £55 Marks and Spencer originals.

Suede is making a major comeback this season, and these New Look loafers are right on trend. They’re perfect for the current transitional weather and will complement any outfit.

With a chunky cleated sole and a soft finish, these shoes are not only smart but incredibly stylish, too. They come in sizes 3 to 9 and feature a padded sock and back, plus an improved lining for all-day wear, reports Nottinghamshire Live.

While M&S opts for real leather, New Look’s trendy alternative is crafted from faux material, offering a budget-friendly yet chic option. Customers have even claimed to walk tens of thousands of steps without a hint of discomfort.

Scoring an impressive 4.7 stars from over 100 reviews, shoppers can’t get enough of them. One satisfied customer raved: “They look sooo good and they’re so comfortable you can go on long trips where you have to walk for miles and hours and you can still wear shoes that look stylish. Love them so much.”

One reviewer raved: “These are so comfy, I wore them while working a three day conference and walked over 100k steps and my feet weren’t sore once. I would absolutely recommend these.”

Another fan agreed, saying: “I never expected to experience comfort the moment I tried them on – I thought I’d have to wear them in a bit before using them properly, but the inner lining and cushioned pads make these a very comfortable wear! Plus, they look super cute! “

However, some shoppers struggled to find the perfect fit, with one reviewer noting: “Smart, well made, comfortable shoes perfect for the office. My only gripe is I got my usual size 4 and they slip off my heel a bit, size 3 was too small. Will try some heel grips to see if that fixes the issue.”

Notably, Marks and Spencer’s version of the loafers came in half-sizes, unlike New Look’s. The Marks and Spencer loafers gained popularity on social media due to their resemblance to a designer pair from Yves Saint Laurent, even catching the attention of former Made In Chelsea star Georgia Toffolo. But seeing as they’re unavailable with no insight as to if or when they’ll be restocked, the New Look pair are a more affordable way to recreate the look on a budget.

Alternatively, Clarks Torhills are a great way to hop on the suede trend. The chunky platform boots have been steadily increasing in searches since the start of the year according to Google trends, and they’re already marked as one of the best-selling styles on the Clarks website. Available for £110, the suede platform boots are stylish, modern and timeless, all whilst having a cooler vibe than a standard pair of boots or loafers.

If suede clothing isn’t your style, that doesn’t mean you can participate in the trend. Suede accessories are a chic way to elevate your spring look. We love this slouchy hobo suedette bag from Monsoon, teamed with an all-denim outfit.

According to the Marks & Spencer website, their Suedette Biker Jacket, £69, is currently its third best-seller in the coats and jackets section. Incorporating all the classic biker jacket details, this faux-suede number makes a welcome change from the boxy, blazer-style suede jackets we’ve seen a lot of over the past month. Some key features of the jacket include an off-centre zip, a neat collarless neckline, four different pockets, and silver hardware for authentic biker-style finishing touches.

Or for a celeb-approved pick, Alison Hammond wore the Brown faux suede Knee Length Midi Skirt, which costs £39 from River Island on an episode of This Morning last week. Complete with a zip fastening and functional pockets, the skirt falls to a midi length, which makes it ideal for pairing with a knee high boot for a striking look, or teaming with flats for something more comfortable and laid back.

Or you can shop the Black Suedette Chunky Loafers at New Look for £32.99 here.
