New Look shoppers say the bag – which is currently on sale – has gotten them “loads of compliments”
New Look is selling a “gorgeous” crossbody bag that looks very similar to one by a luxury designer brand. The high street retailer is well known for its affordable, fashionable clothing, shoes and accessories – and now there’s one product standing apart from the rest.
The fashion brand’s Black Panelled Faux Leather Crossbody Bag looks just like Gucci’s Jackie Notte Mini Bag. Both bags feature a similar shape, as well as gold-tone hardware and a link design on the front.
They also both come with a gold chain strap. However, the high street version is made with faux leather and has a zip closure, while Gucci’s is real patent leather and has a hook closure.

While New Look’s bag comes in at £14.99 (currently on sale from £19.99), the Gucci version is priced at £2,830 online. This means shoppers could save around £2,815 by opting for the high street alternative.
The New Look description reads: “Finish muted looks with the colour of the season thanks to this black crossbody bag. Panelled from high-shine faux leather, it’s detailed with gold-tone links at the front and fastens with a zip.”
The bag features a high-shine leather look, gold hardware and a crossbody, chain strap. There’s also a fabric lining, an internal slip pocket and top zip.
The bag has racked up rave reviews online, gaining an overall rating of 4.6 stars. Among the positive reviews, one person said: “Love this bag. The colour is amazing and the gold strap and buckle on the front make it look expensive, just the right size for evening out.”
A second wrote: “Really good bag getting loads of compliments” and a third shopper added: “Gorgeous Little Bag! Lovely little bag. Beautiful colour and just what I was looking for. Perfect for Christmas.”
Another added: “Perfect zip cross body bag! Finally! A gorgeous burgundy bag with a zip! Perfect size bag to fit, phone and accessories and bonus it comes with a zip so it’s super secure! Very happy.”
However, some shoppers pointed out things they’d like to change about the bag. One person said: “Nice little bag but smaller than expected and chain not long enough for me.”
Another wrote: “Bought this bag in the sale. Did the job but, it does look and feel a bit cheap. So glad I didn’t pay full price.”
Alternatively, there are a range of other styles available at different retailers. M&S has the Faux Leather Sling Bag in three colours for £25, while Next sells the Leather Messenger Bag in black or brown for £38.
